He's a pretty solid defensive rebounder, he hovers around 18% which is around what Jones gets.

He will never be a shot blocker though. He has t-rex arms and no leaping ability to compensate.

I credit Asik for D-Mo's improvement. D-Mo has evidently modeled his defense after Asik's. Which is a very smart move for a very big man who cannot leap out of the building. Jones would benefit immensely if he took the same approach. Smart defensive rotation is the foundation of NBA defenses.

Like in the endgame last night, when the situation calls for it, Harden can guard whoever is assigned to make the play. In that last min, he guarded both Ellis and Dirk without shirking from it.

    lol

Harden guarded well too. He couldn't have been on them any more tight. They either had to make the shot or not and under pressure. Great Harden and team defensive stand at the end. The TEAM could not have played any better both ends of the court at the end.

Yet another example of stats, in particular "win shares", being pretty useless.

Of course last year Harden didn't even play in the first game vs Philly when Anderson scored 36 and in the 2nd game where Anderson scored 30 Harden was only guarding him for 3 or 4 of his made shots but I get the point you're trying to make.

Nice to see him getting some credit on the defensive end this season. His increase in effort and focus has been noticeable.

Not that it matters, but Harden didn't play that game.

He played great post d versus Boozer the other night. Kinda funny to see but Harden has a strong base.

Yet another example of a bad post from you desperate for attention.

Why are you being negative? The eye test says Harden is improved on defense, and now the stats back it up.

Anyone that says Harden hasn't dramatically improved his overall defensive performance the first 13 games compared to most of the games he played last season in total is a straight up hater. He is looking more like Tony Allen this year than whoever that lazy ass guy he was last year, no question about it. Can he consistently keep it up game in and game out against the better teams best players as the season grinds on though, will be the real test... So far so good !!! More than satisfied with his almost complete turn around from last year so far...

I didn't remember Harden taking on Boozer, but I remember seeing him on Dirk at the end of that game. My reaction was - WTF  Well there goes the ol ball game! Boy, was I ever wrong!

Look out, Blazers! We've got LMA's number now!

What does Defensive Win Shares even mean? Either way, glad he is getting credit from some people for his improved D. I've seen about 6 games so far this season and the difference is night and day.

We all know why he wasn't able to get playing time. The McHale factor

It means he plays a lot of minutes on a good defensive team, basically.

Still yes he is visibly much improved.

It's not about being negative. This statistic over a 12 game stretch in my opinion isn't all that important.

It is like in MLB if you lead the league in triples after 12 games.
