What is it with Arabs and the gay sex? Serious question.

    'Nice girls don't get raped'

On International Women's Day, three Israeli women discuss common myths about sexual violence in their distinctly different communities.

One in every three Israeli women has been raped or sexually assaulted, according to the latest statistics from the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel (ARCCI).

Released late last year, this data seems shocking considering that the country’s first center for victims of violent sexual crimes opened more than three decades ago and women around the globe have been fighting to improve their status annually on International Women’s Day for close to 100 years.

But none of the three women interviewed for this article – Miriam Schler, executive director of the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Tel Aviv, Debbie Gross, director of the Rape Crisis Center for Religious Women in Jerusalem, and Naila Awwad-Rashed, coordinator for Women Against Violence Organization (WAVO) in Nazareth – seems surprised by the figures.

All agree that it makes no difference where you live, which community you are part of, your age, body shape or social standing, all women are potential victims of violent sexual crimes.

According to the figures published by the nonprofit organization based on calls to its national help line, more than 2000 people claimed to have been victims of rape or attempted rape in 2008. Furthermore, some 379 said the attack was by more than one person, and 1404 said the perpetrator was someone in their family.

Schler, a former New Yorker who has been working with victims of violent sexual crimes for some 20 years, says that the numbers are not growing but that awareness about such acts are, which, in turn, leads to more women reporting.

“In the past we simply did not hear about such things, but the more people talk about this subject, the more women are empowered to come forward and report the crimes,” she says.

However, the situation is far from being solved, especially when myths and stereotypes about the nature of sexual assaults, the perpetrators and their victims exist in every community.

Schler points to the case last week of an 18-year-old girl raped by a gang of 13 teenage boys for a period of more than three years.

“The public debate is focusing on why the girl did not speak out about what was happening to her, but no one is asking why none of the boys stood up and said, ‘This is wrong,’” she says. “We have fostered a culture where men are encouraged to be tough and manly and women are viewed as objects there for the taking. We should be asking why none of the boys came forward or thought to ask the girl if this was what she really wanted.”

Arabs have long been linked to gay molestation initiation ceremonies -

New York Times - U.S. Soldiers Told to Ignore Sexual Abuse of Boys by Afghan Allies

Saudi is what happens when the most redneck part of America finds it won the lottery, quits everything they thought they knew and go from camper vans to mansions with no limitations.

Parties with UAE and Bahraini royals are just as bad - apparently Cosby is looking at seeking asylum there in a few years. Rape culture at it's finest.

Has something to do with religion. It's hard for them to have sex with a woman, so they do it with fellow men.

    my 3 cents.

Why do they have so much prison gay sex in America? Oh, must be because of Christianity. My 4 cents.

ALL that disgusting behavior mentioned, and its only focusing on the "gay" part?

Gay sex is by far the LEAST of concerns. The threat to KILL, forced sex against others will, dangerous power tripping and overall lack of care for others well being is much more awful and intolerable.

Both of you are speaking about restricted female sex options. One is done through religious persecution, the other is physical seclusion away from women. No Women = A Man will have to DO

Right, excellent deflection away from a problem plaguing the entire muslim sphere. Gay / boy sex mixed with violence.

1 month ago, the eldest son of the UAE king, notorious for all male cocaine fueled sex parties, and who was no longer the heir apparent after he killed a palace aide in public (forget about jail time), died from an overdose.

A few years ago, a gay Saudi prince was jailed for 20 years. Not because he was gay, or beat his manservant lover to death, but because he was caught committing a crime outside of Saudi Arabia.

    From article in first post

Do you know any educated Arab women? Of course not, you don't know any women.

But the term isn't an oxymoron - and they'll be the first to tell you how molestation and rape is the Arab version of a bar mitzvah - a coming of age ritual. Young boys are forced to copulate with whoever they're told to at parties and are often assigned a mentor figure in rural areas where sex is a part of the exchange. It's easier for Arab men to relate to them in addition to quenching their thirst for power and other megalomanic traits.

Of course, you'll never see muslims like Exiled complaining or trying to reform this cultural mentality. He's too busy posting on twitter about the clock boy in Texas who should be given a Nobel peace prize for opening a clock and sticking it in a suitcase, then not communicating with a teacher who asked him for details.

This is the main reason why Islam thrives wherever trouble is - the so called moderates who don't want to take accountability for barbaric thought processes, but would rather play the victim when a white teacher errs on the side of caution.

To the extent allegations are true, I suspect it has a lot more to do with the "prince" part than the "Saudi" part. Living with such excesses of personal power and lacking accountability is bad for one's moral fiber. We saw the same kind of thing with Burlusconi's sex parties. And, I think it's the same phenomenon we see with celebrity child molesters and rapists like Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski, Rolf Harris, Chuck Berry, and what seems like scores of others.

Making generalizations about an entire race or religion is downright idiotic. No single crime should be attributed to a large demographic of people.

I don't think there's a debate about the horrific nature of these allegations. However, when you start race-baiting and making passive-aggressive claims about religion, there's infinite reasons to call out the racism and bigotry. I guess it's the usual suspects, once again.

Surely, some of you can rise above your preexisting hatred.

I really don't know how to respond to this ridiculous drivel, so I won't.

Many folks around here have labeled you a troll, but it's quite obvious that that isn't true. You don't get off on instigating folks. Worse, you truly believe the $hit that spews from your mouth.

Goodbye honey bear. I hope you find peace

Americans have been at war with killing Muslims in different and growing nations, so it isn't surprising to dehumanize an entire people and culture rather than dissecting their varied characteristics and our motivations for intervening in each conflict state on a case by case basis.
