I get it, you're not actually serious, you're just dumb. Actually wait I'm dumb for believing you were. Good game.
I know it hurts that Memphis passed up Harden for Hasheem Thabeet in a Bowie over Jordan move but let me just laugh at you a bit more. Hahaha. Players Memphis passed on to take Thabeet Harden Steph Curry DeMar Derozan Jeff Teague Jrue Holiday Players Memphis passed on to take OJ Mayo Westbrook Kevin Love Brook Lopez Roy Hibbert Goran Dragon Just because the Grizzlies f'd up and set the table for Presti doesn't mean much, other than overdrafting for size is always a mistake.
Presti's biggest advantage was typically the teams in the lottery back then were there because they were bad organizations, the whole strategic sucking hasn't really been in vogue until the last few years.
No but it's amusingly ironic that the sting of Memphis ****ing up which in fact allowed Presti to get his (now mostly tarnished) reputation is so strong that Memphis fans still pretend like he's a savant. He's lucky that Portland and Memphis went with scrubs; Memphis was exceedingly unlucky to go into consecutive loaded drafts with high picks and come away with nothing; if Memphis hadn't won the lottery they might have been better off. Life is crazy
How do you compare drafting? Saying superstars are where it counts are stupid, the Spurs for example have been so good for so long they haven't sniffed the top 10 since TD was drafted almost 2 decades ago....is it Buford and Popovich's fault they haven't been able to find superstars in the late first round and 2nd round? Saying Presti is great because he picked Durant, WB, Harden and Ibaka in succession is stupid simply because he got high picks in all of those drafts, and those drafts were in period that had several high impact players. For reference here is Draft Express' mock draft: 2007: Kevin Durant 2008: Russell WestBrook, Marreese Speights (in retrospect Ibaka was better, but if you look closely they had Ibaka going right after Speights) 2009: James Harden 2010: Avery Bradley (in retrospect much better than Cole Aldrich, dude they traded up for) OMG, Draft Express is a total GOD! Picking Durant, WB and Harden all in the same years Presti has done. WTF is this magic? Quick, somebody tell Les Alexander to fire Morey and just get exclusive access to Draft Express! They. ARE. THE. BOMB!!!!! Apparently it's not that hard to pick high lotto picks, that's because they get so much exposure and most of them were known back in their high school days. And even if you whiff unless you REALLY messed up you will still get a good player, Rox missed out on Kawhi but Marcus Morris still turned out to be an ok player. IMHO non-lottos are harder to grade, because you have less info for them and unlike lotto picks (which basically you have 1-3 choices at any lotto position) you pretty much have dozens of hopefuls, which among those guys will turn into Gilbert Arenas or Parsons, which among those will be duds?
