We can give him that player option. By then He and dwight will be off our books while we look into the Durant situation. Then retain one of the two.

Mchale just said on 790 that the rockets don't have interest in McGee

We dont really need him.. what are we gonna do, use him for a few weeks until dwight's back and then let him ride the bench the rest of the playoffs? No reason to have him right now.

This is just McHale saying that even if Morey trades for McGee, he would not know how to use him. His rotation is set. And even tho the Rockets run a ton, McHale will continue to play only 8-9 guys.

My guess is that the Rockets reached out to McGee but McGee showed no interest. McGee wants at least a possible long-term home with an opening for the starting C job-- thus he showed interest in Boston. In Houston, he will be a backup C at best unless Dwight gets injured.

We'd need him when Dwight gets in foul trouble or needs rest. Somebody else has to play center through stretches, and DMo nor Dorsey can do this effectively

Why can't it just be that morey and Mchale have both been telling the truth since the trade deadline when they said they had no interest in the guys rumored to be bought out.

The day of the deadline mchale said he had no interest in buyout candidates.

McHale has no interest in some of the players sitting on his own bench.

So is Spears a hack or is McHale simply clueless?

There is a third option: McHale is not clueless but didn't want one of his players to think they were being cut. He was also very adamant about Shved being a solid rotational player.

This. As a head coach, no good can come from talking up people who are not on your roster.

All well and good but why say anything negative about a player that the FO is negotiating to acquire?
