While not the most physcially gifted of players, Ryan Bowen can always be counted on for bringing some "E" - "E" as in: 1. Energy 2. Effort and 3. Efficiency Three categories the Rox up until tonite had been sorely missing. And speaking of tonite, there's more intangibles than I can count for Bowen that just doesn't appear in the boxscore. He hustles, he dives, he defends, heck he even bumps. In fact, I'm thoroughly convinced that Ryan Bowen is the today's version of Charles Oakley "lite." What do you like most about Ryan Bowen? And who does he remind you of? theSAGE
he makes me think of that guy who dresses up in the old man outfit and does the crazy dancing on that Theme park commercial.... You know the guy who was just fired. Not a lot of talent but he does make me laugh.
You mean this guy? lol! http://www.blogdaddy.com/archives/001330.php Yeah that's Rybo 50 years from now!!! theSAGE
You forgot Flyin Ryan Sage. What can I say that you havent already? His contributions cant always be counted on the boxscore, but to anyone that watches the games with a critical eye...ie, not always just watching where the ball is...sees the dusruptions he cause on the defensive end, and how much he helps his teammates on both ends...just check how many times he saved the ball from going out or tipped the ball to someone else just for a small example.
I love watching Ryan play...he's always scrapping, running around and just causing havoc on the court...he gives this team such a boost with his energy and his effort that its hard to keep him off the floor, even though he's a liability offensively...he's arguably been our most consistent player this season...you always know what you're gonna get with Flyin Ryan in the game...
How about the Iowa Assassin? Seriously, dude is all about Iowa. They did "Finish it off With Ryan Bowen" on the video tonight. Here are Ryan's questions and answers: Q: Which player did you look up to when you were a kid? A: Chris Street from Iowa. I wear number 40 in honor of him. Q: What's your favorite place to go in the off season? A: [Some golfcourse] in Iowa. The wife and I love to play golf there. Q: What's your favorite movie quote? A: "'Is this heaven?' 'No, it's Iowa.'" Iowa's finest, Ryan Fah-reakin' Bowen. I love this guy.
I like that. A lot. Now if only he could get a few Mutombo-esque elbow shots... although that Miller pasting comes close...
He is great! All the role players should know their roles in a team. Right now it seems only Ryan, JB and Deke know this and they can contribute. Anyway, I am a fan of Ryan
lol. after the game they interviewed bowen and i'm pretty sure that's the first time i've heard him speak. he also doesn't look as goofy just standing there. anyways, ryan's doing a fantastic job keeping the white boy power squad alive!
I love stats. But they have to be balanced by actually watching the game(s). If you would have only looked at the stat line vs BOS, you'd have thought "oh, 8 boards...nice...2 points...1 more than his TO's...nothing too major". But if you actually watched the game, you would have seen that he was primarliy matched defensively on Ricky Davis. Davis is a really good offensive player who is going to get his points. But Bowen never allowed Davis to get comfortable. And you really don't see that in a statline only evaluation.
on the post game show on the radio, he said he has a basketball camp called "Floor Burns Basketball Camp" Ryan has the hustle and fire this team is missing without Sura and Barry. When are the new guys going to learn thats what is required of them???
Not to mention his offensive rebounding. Even when he didn't get the ball, he always got his hand on it and tipped it away from the opponent. Many times, it resulted in his teammates getting the lose ball (and not stat point for him).
Bowen's hustle sometimes makes the other players on the court look like they are playing in slow motion in comparison.
