Zero hedge provides an interesting insight and its always good to hear different views. However when you look at the comment section, it's a mix between storm front and city data.

Wow. Looks like Turkey messed up bad, and things are escalating against them and the Al Qaeda (Nusra) and Daesh proxies they have been supporting in Syria.

Just today there are reports that Kurdish YPG and other SDF forces are attacking Al Qaeda positions and taking villages in Northeast Syria with Russian air support. And a few minutes ago there are reports that the Kurdish YPG forces are getting Russian air support to take Jarabulus -- a very key Daesh town that acts as a border crossing between Daesh and Turkish territory, which has been fueling the Daesh economy and foreign fighter recruitment efforts.

The Kurds have tried to take it before, but Turkey bombed them and threatened to attack them if the continued to do so, so they stopped. Now they are receiving backing from the Russians in this attempt. If it is true, then it is a major development.

I suspect Mr. Putin will soon express his heartfelt sympathy for Kurdish nationalism...which is probably a good thing to come out of this.

I am so happy to see Erdogan so desperate with what he has caused. Already so many million of liras lost because of tourism then turkish products imports and maybe next it's gas. And now the b*stard is jailing journalists once again.

Btw he doesn't have support in all of Turkey. The east and the west are like two different cultures/countries. The eastern coast hates him.

No. That's only Turkey. Also with ships. Also invading rock-islands like the Imia one that almost led to war. Almost every year we have broken glasses from the jets that are chasing the turkish jets and break the air barrier. If Greece was throwing down the Turkish jets that invade every damn year the airspace or drowned the ships that invade the water borders we would have war every day. One god damn warship even found its way in the middle of the Cyclades only some months ago. (thats in the middle of the country not near the borders) and was enscorted by multiple warships but wasn't responding to demands to leave for hours.
But hypocrite Erdogan can pretend he doesn't do anything wrong.

And in the Southeast of Turkey you have the Kurdish region, which Erdogan is in civil war against. So, that's about 12 to 15% of the population right there.

Oups I meant to say the western coast. There's no east coast. I just said east because it's east to me lol.

Erdogan still refuses to apologise. But a Sultan can't apologise because he's never wrong.

Why apologize for shooting down a military plane that violated your airspace? The apology needs to come from Putin, but dictators don't apologize.

lol if every other country adopted this policy and started shooting at every Turkish air force plane that violated their airspace,,, Turkey would have very few aircrafts left.

And I'd be fine with that. You can't violate another country's airspace with military aircraft without the risk of being shot at. It's why you seek permission to use airspace or stay the hell out.....or you just do it anyway and take the risk. That said, if you take the risk, don't whine when you get shot down.
