Beverley's injury is timely. Imagine the crowd reaction would have gotten this Sunday.

 

Yea blame OKC org if they hadn't traded Harden we wouldn't have been in the playoffs in the first place.

 

Possibly bad surgery or poor rehab treatment. This may be the fault of those that treated and advised him after the injury?

Oh, baloney! Bev is not a dirty player at all. It was a fluke injury and Bev trying to make that steal happens all the time. Westbrook did the same exact thing the game before that to Lin.

Here's a possible scenario.

They could have traded Westbrook to the Magic for Howard, and I highly doubt the Magic would have rejected that deal.

Now you have a team of Reggie Jackson, Harden, Durant, Ibaka and Howard.

All we know is Howard wanted to go to a team with a better situation when he left the Lakers.

OKC would have easily been 1st seed with a line-up of Jackson, Harden, Durant, Ibaka and Howard. The backlash towards Howard would be immense had he left a championship caliber team at its peak, so I highly doubt he would have just stayed for one year and left.

All we know is Presti made a poor decision and did not maximize the values of his assets.

I agree. But the idea here is that Presti didn't make that bad of a trade. He did not know Harden was going to be as good as he was. Neither did Morey. People have short memories. At the time, Harden was still a bench player that was unproven, coming off a horrible NBA Finals.

It could be argued that Kevin Martin was equal to James Harden. Those picks ended up being Steven Adams and Lamb, two solid nba players.

Dwight did not have interest in going to OKC, small market. I highly doubt Presti didn't at least think about that trade. There's also no guarantee Orlando wanted Harden at the time either, an unproven player wanting max money. Morey took a leap of faith, giving Harden max money, because he was desperate for a star.

Reggie Jackson is pretty damn good. If Lin doesn't contain him he can replace at least 75% of Westbrook's production.

Morey said the day after the trade that Harden would be a 'Franchise' player. Yes Morey was desperate for a star but he wasn't going to just throw his chips at any young player.

Remember the rumors of him turning down Amare because of the possible knee issues.

What Morey did was trust his analytics, same thing he did for Asik. Those analytics told him Asik would be a good center if given the time. When he got Harden he talked about him as if he were superstar before he even played his first minutes. He knew what he was getting.

Also, anyone that thought Martin was equal to Harden was a fool. I said so on that day and since then continue to say so. Even OKC Harden was on another level than Martin. Not even close.

 

I think Lamb and the picks were supposed to be the balancing factors. I don't think anyone thought Martin would totally replace Harden. But the perception at the time is that distance between them wasn't as great as it is perceived to be now.
