    That is terrible advice.

Westbrook's entire team basically sold out the season and played really hard to get him the MVP/Tdub award, as did "I don't give a **** about stats" Russ. And the result was a stunted dysfunctional mess of a team that knew how to do nothing else getting spanked by a Rockets team playing in 2nd gear.

Harden played super hard in the regular season as well, no doubt with eyes on the MVP - the result was a historic set of regular season milestones that was by many metrics as good or better than Russ that made for a far better team. Then he ran out of gas.

Kashi played hard...and then rested. A d rested and rested some more...but still garnered a collection of fools for his 1 full week of MVP candidacy. Then his ankle broke apart.

LeBron dogged it and coasted it for large stretches but clearly was at ultra peak form in May/June and still didn't really come close to knocking off gsw despite galactic level 15 performance. He required potentially the greatest offensive outburst ever from a team ...just to not get swept

So the lesson is....play hard, or rest, or not, or really just be Golden state?

No, the lesson is, Harden wanted to screw Nicky Minaj but got screwed by the MVP voters again.

    That's the REAL lesson.

I view the reasoning of WB then Kawhi 2nd votes as "I usually go best player on best team" but have to give the nod to the rare trip double this year, but follow form after that." Still doesn't make sense to me, but that's my thinking of the thinking. Of course, they could do it just to screw Harden as much as possible without voting him worse.

What doesn't make sense to me is Kawhi 1st then WB 2nd. I mean, if you're going to deny the trip double, then seems you'd stick to form and Harden would be 2nd, because his stats are actually better, just not as cool as tripdbl.

The three who voted Kawhi, WB, then Harden are Beadle and the other San Antonio voter, then Kestecher from ESPN Radio.

It is what it is. Harden will never win anything that is determined by the media. Not liked enough.

Is there going to be a NBPA Players MVP like the past two years?

THe losers who voted Kashi second caught the "two way player" bug that Klay Thompson boosters (crickets...crickets) used to have a year or 2 ago. The 2nd way in 2 ways is always set to the following value: Defensive value * n where n = whatever number that is required to make the sum of the 2 way players offensive & defensive value surpass that of whoever is not a "two way player" but is a better "player"

THis is the kind of stupid **** that makes you say things liek "Klay Thompson is the second best player in teh NBA" - see Charles Barkley on TNT in October/November 2016

The reality is that whatever you want the criteria to be for MVP, one truth is clear:
If the Spurs offered Leonard for Harden, you do that deal without hesitation if you're the Rockets.

To me that says that Leonard is more valuable than Harden regardless of MVP votes.

I don't think the Rockets do that.

Leonard without Pop, Parker, manu, gasol, and the rest of the SA team? Who knows.

Harden with multiple coaches, teams, players? Stud.

Harden is more proven at this point. However, Leonard seems like the better player, still unproven if he's capable solo.

I don't know about hesitation, but it's a logical choice.

I wonder what this does for Harden's MVP chances next year...

Oh wait, won't matter, all it matters is about the narrative. If there is some kind of 'Revenge' season narrative going for Harden then maybe...

We can argue whether Harden quit on the team in G6 or just was tired. It's just one game.

What's apparent is that Kawhi quit on the Spurs' entire season.
