I'm reading all over the internet that Lakers are considering trading Gasol and that there is interest from other teams around the NBA. I just don't get it. If the Lakers can con some team into giving them anything of value for Gasol, I'll be disgusted.

I just don't see how trading for Gasol (unless he WANTS out of LA and doesn't mind coming to Houston) is a good thing beyond this season. Seven footers decline more rapidly in the NBA and he will be 33 after this season. It ruins our chances of getting a good deal on one of the several all stars available this off-season.

I'm not sure, but I think the last year of Scola's contract was not fully guaranteed.

Gasol to the Raptors in exchange for a package based around Bargnani and Calderon.

It's the sanest offer for Gasol around, and would undoubtedly make both teams better. The Lakers get a tall 3 point shooter, the kind coveted in a D'Antoni offense, and a point guard rotation of Steve Nash and Jose Calderon is ridiculously overpowered to be honest. Elite passing followed by more elite passing.

The downsides are obvious, however. Both Raptors players are notoriously poor defenders, but if this is going to be the new look Lakers under D'Antoni, they might as well embrace the philosophy that the best defense is a good offense.

League gossip is that the only thing stopping this sort of trade is Bryan Colangelo's unfathomable incompetence. Raptors fans hate him and they hate Bargnani, it's probably time for that franchise to get a refresh based around Gasol, Lowry, DeRozan, and Valanciunas.

Raptors need to make this trade before they fall even further under 500. Colangelo is one of the worst gms in the league

Repping you just based on principle. It's hard to name a worse GM in the league at this point, to be honest.

Otis Smith is gone. David Khan probably?

Oh wait what am I saying. Joe Dumars still has a job too!

    Gasol isn't the main issue.

Their main problem remains poor perimeter defense. Now you add onto Dwight's FT shooting, it puts even more pressure on their defense.

All the Lakers are hoping is for Steve Nash to return and everything will be fine. That delusional thinking will bite them in the butt.

Nash will never fix the Lakers' perimeter defense problems. He'll lazily put his hand up and he figures his job ends there. He was like that even in his MVP seasons.

However, 30 minutes of Steve Nash a night, on that proposed roster, and 25 minutes of Jose Calderon a night, is a triple dog dare to the rest of the league to see if they can score 121 points to top the Lakers' 120.

Geez man... in my book, that makes D'Antoni look a fool. Develop a scheme that gets him the ball where he's comfortable then you buffoon. This isn't college, you aren't recruiting kids to fit a system. Figure it out you hack.

Pau for Amare straight up. Makes sense for both teams. Nash-Stoudamire meet again with D'Antoni.

Pau with the Knicks makes sense...b/c Mike Woodson likes low post players ...his system is a lot like JVG's

Amare loves the screen and roll..an excellent mid range shooter...and Dwight can clean up the misses...This relegates Kobe as a jump shooter...and we all know that Kobe just cant take that...

Not necessarily. It does reduce his role, however, and at this point in his career, that should be expected. Kobe should ask himself how many more rings he wants.
