Father of Jacko molestation accuser found dead in Jersey City

The father of the boy who once accused Michael Jackson of molestation has committed suicide, authorities said today.

Beverly Hills dentist Evan Chandler, 65, was found dead in Jersey City, NJ, in a luxury waterfront apartment.

A Jersey City official said Chandler was found in bed with a single gunshot wound to his head. He was still holding the gun when the body was found.

A source confirmed the death, which occurred on Nov. 5.

Police said it does not appear that he left behind a suicide note.

The former dentist and aspiring screenwriter had several cosmetic procedures, rendering him virtually unrecognizable from the way he looked since the Jackson matter, a family source said.

Chandler regularly self-administered botox and cosmetic facial fullers.

"He was handsomer version of Rob Lowe. That's how drop-dead handsome he was [after the plastic surgeries],'' the source said.

In the early 1990s, Chandler reported Jackson to the authorities in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, claiming the King of Pop molested his son, who was just 13 at the time.

Both launched investigations into the allegations and convened a grand jury to look into the sex abuse charges.

The boy and and his father also brought a civil suit against Jacko.

Jackson reportedly settled the case for $15 million.

The boy, now 29, has never spoken publicly about the case. In recent years, Jordan has reconnected with his mother — about the same time he and dad Evan had a massive falling out, sources said.

Jordan Chandler claimed his dad attacked him with a dumbbell weight and got a restraining order against his pop in fall 2006.

In 1996, Chandler had filed a $60 million lawsuit against Jackson and his then-wife Lisa Marie Presley, claiming the two breached the terms of a confidentiality deal by talking about the case with ABC's Diane Sawyer during a TV interview the previous year.

Chandler was divorced from wife June Chandler in 1992 when their 12-year-old son Jordan met The King of Pop through Evan’s stepdad.

Jackson’s car broke down and he happened to be near the Los Angeles rental car agency owned by Jordy’s step father.

The dentist put his own son under anesthesia to remove a tooth — and that’s when Jordan first admitted Jackson had touched him inappropriately. The youngster later repeated those claims to a psychologist, launching the massive two-county probe.

Evan Chandler had always been suspicious of MJ’s relationship with his son, who often stayed in the boy’s bedroom during creepy sleepovers.

Former Santa Barbara County Sheriff Jim Thomas, who was in office when Jacko was investigated for touching Jordy, said he never held it against the family for taking the money and running.

"They probably did it because they thought it was in their best interest," Thomas said after learning of Chandler’s death.

When Jackson was prosecuted in 2005 for allegedly molesting a young cancer victim, June Jordan testified she was estranged from Jordy as a result of the Jackson probe and settlement.

"Everybody in this whole saga was touched tragically,’’ Thomas said. "I don’t know that anybody came out of this in a better way.’’

The Rob Lowe line is a classic, and makes me wonder if this is true or not.

    If it is, oh well.

This article is so poorly written. I didn't understand how Jackson touched the boy when he was at the dentist office. Was Jackson at the dentist office while the kid was having a procedure?

Also why would they write "creepy sleepover"? Is this a news story or an editorial piece?

I know NYPost is a form of tabloid news masking as regular news, but the story doesn't seem very objective.

I assume he gave him laughing gas or something and he started admitting some things.
