It's not, however, the most commonly-recurring disease he has.

Figure this: Rudy won't have an income from either the Rockets (he left to be the Lakers coach) or the Lakers(he resigned), so this has to be something pretty serious. For a man to walk away from the way he has made his living, well, you don't do that beacuse you are pissed at Kobe.

Unfortunately, if the Rocks brought him back in fold, it would, to some, smell of tampering. I would imagine that if he is ever brought back to the Rocks, it would not be before next season, and most likely even that would be too soon to eliminate rumors of a conspiracy.

Good luck Rudy, and I really hope that this has nothing to do with the cancer. Thanks for all that you have given to us rocket fans over the years.

Rudy wouldn't quit because of the players, because of team losses, or even because of Kobe. Remember - he spent many years with the Rockets. From high times to low times. Big egos, to unheard-of CBA players. Team losses and losing streaks to championships. He traded away valuable players. He traded to get valuable players. And he endured it all. He would never quit a team because of "dissatisfaction for the way the Lakers are playing" and certainly wouldn't do so after only 3 or 4 months into his first season with a new team. So, that reason must be complete BS.

That said, the only two things I can think of that would cause Rudy to leave would be
    a) a VERY serious, life-changing health disorder
    b) serious family problems
    c) Very rough times with the club's front office

Rudy has the ability to get along with anybody, and has an impeccable reputation around the NBA. I can't imagine that reason b) is the cause, especially after only a short period of time with a team that is new to him and a team full of players who are new to each other (completely new roster for this season).

We haven't heard anything about anything wrong with his family.

That leaves reason a). And since he has said that his cancer hasn't relapsed, that means that there is probably something else very seriously wrong with Rudy's health.

    That's the scary part.

Yes. If I remember correctly, he had a wreck in West University and drove his car into a tree. After that, he completely quit (also for health reasons).

You do realize Rudy had final say on all personel decisions when he was coach. How did that turn out?
