People don't talk about it much because it worked, but one of the reasons Tim Duncan never averaged more points was the brand of defense they play. The same can be said for Melo. He never plays defense because he is working so hard on the offensive end. There have been very few players in the league that did both equally well. MJ and Hakeem were the only two I can name off the top of my team.
Hollinger is a poor man's Morey. No way in hell Morey would be out-Moreyed by Hollinger by getting him to take an overpaid max-player in Gay.

I would be extremely happy to take a chance on Rudy Gay if Memphis packages him with Marc Gasol or (maybe) Zach Randolph to Houston without taking Ömer-Harden-Lin and Parsons. Lin Harden Parsons Marc or Zach Ömer Aşık with Gay off the bench would be an expensive, slow team but huge contender for years.
