It was the second day of practice and Roy Williams apparently handed Dez Bryant his pads expecting him to carry them off the field.. but Dez didn't take them.. he told reporter.."i was drafted to play football not carry other players pads" and Roy responded.." when I was a rookie I had to do it, and whether it's now or not, he's gonna have to carry our stuff"

    LOL

How bout the team focuses on winning instead of this immature hazing?

This immature hazing is part of becoming a man for an NFL rookie. Everyone has to go through it. Dez Bryant needs to carry the pads, and learn as much as he can from the veterans.

Carrying equipment is immature? It's not like he's being forced to wear a pink tu-tu and a beanie with a propeller on it.

I sure am glad the Rockets haven't hazed their rookies by having them . . . oh I dunno . . . have a dance contest or anything.

I always thought the hazing was immature. Sure, on the high school and college level it makes sense... but the professional league? It's about going out there, trying your hardest, and winning games... not building character. Character building time is over. Carry your own damn pads.

It's something everybody has to go through. If you refuse to do it, you're basically telling your teammates that you're better than them. It's disrespectful to those who have actually gone the right of passage and earned the title "veteran". He's not going to make many friends by saying he's too good to follow tradition.

He should offer to carry Miles Austin's pads tomorrow.

Might teach him some humility and respect for those that were in the league before him.

Let's see where this goes. I wonder if he would have dissed anyone else besides Roy Williams.

I don't think Dez was trying to say he's better, just saying hes here to play ball. He shouldve just done it though, to show humility. I mean, he hasn't done anything yet in Dallas.. but then again, neither has Roy. ;)

LOL that would be hilarious if he walks by Roy Williams holding everybodys pads on his shoulder but Roy's.. he would demand a trade.

You're obviously not familiar with how it works...this is something that has gone on for decades. Like others have mentioned, its a right of passage. Just like a fraternity...you have to go through the motions to become part of the team.
