I remember his debut like it was yesterday. Came out of the bullpen and struck out Sosa with the bases loaded and the Astros clinging to a small lead. The Astros were right in the middle of the Division race too- ended up squeaking by STL that year. Such a great pitcher, the Game 6 hero when it looked like the Astros collapse was imminent after the Pujols homer. I think he could've won the Cy Young in 2004 if Clemens hadn't been insane that year.
He was better in 2005 (although Clemens should have won that one as well). He just never had that one amazing year like a lot of guys seem to have (always seemed to be a top 5 pitcher every season, but never had the best season). He was remarkably consistent.
this. and that awesome grin when the Cubs' whiny catcher was being thrown out for charging the mound.
I would come if I wasn't boycotting the ALStros. Roy was truly great during his time here during the good old NL days.
If you were really boycotting the team, I would think that would include message boards dedicated to said team. By posting here about them, the CSN stuff, Roy Oswalt, etc... it makes you more involved with the team than the most common fan. Also doesn't help that you constantly bring up the fact that you're boycotting the team, while continuing the lurk/post/criticize/etc. We get it... you didn't like the move to the AL.
Aww man, is there anything we can possibly do to change your mind??? Please, please don't boycott the Astros!
I am just here for the CSN-H updates and saw something from the good times and responded. Don't worry Nick, if it does not involve the old NLStros, I will not comment. I absolutely detest he DH rule and have decided to boycott the Stros until they come back to the REAL league (NL) that does not have the absolutely idiotic DH rule.
I only look at threads with ties to the OLD days (the good times) other than the CSN-H thread that for some idiotic reason was stuck in the Stros forum. I guess it has something to do with the idiot Crane otherwise I would not be here.
I can only root for the Stros and have given up baseball due to this since I feel so strongly, so it is obvious that I will never watch a pro baseball game again. Sorry, you may not understand it but I am entitled to my own opinion. Just know I was a diehard Stros fan form the late 70's until the stupid AL move.
Sure... just confirming that you would give up the game that you love completely over the DH rule (which WILL eventually be adopted in the NL). I also didn't like the move, but more due to being "forced" to move as a contingency to the sale of the team... when there were plenty of more viable candidates with less NL history. I also think having an odd number of teams in each league is dumb, and the constant inter league is one of the biggest reasons why the DH will eventually be adopted in the NL.

Fondest memory of Roy was when the astros were overtaking first place from the cubs and he got all up in Barrets grill at the plate, Roy didnt take no sh**!
Those 04-05 astros teams are the only team that made me love baseball! Always been a casual fan, but those teams led by Oswalt and Berkman made me a fanatic for a little while. Hopefully we can get back there sooner rather than later.
