I think the rise of Covington sealed Nix's fate.

They are probably cutting him and keeping Trail through the first round of cuts with the hope they can get someone off the street and sneak Trail to the PS after people sign up vets.

Wow, I was dead wrong about this a couple days ago. I forgot who I responded to, but that person said that Nix may get cut and I disagreed. Im sorry to that person, I was wrong! Crazy!

Wonder if we can make anything out of the players they are releasing first.

Covington isn't a nose tackle so I don't think he cost Nix his job at all. Covington is pushing to be a starting DE in a 3-4 next year when Crick is up. He won't hold down the middle.

Wow, Nix and Hilliard got cut. Coaching staff ain't messing around. Doesn't matter when or where you got drafted. You better put up or shut up.

Polk made the squad over Kenny.

    It was me. :)

Glad they cut Hilliard too. This staff makes me very happy. When OB says draft doesn't matter and it's all about performance he is telling the truth.

It'll be interesting to see if Hilliard makes it through waivers to get to the practice squad

So with the cutting of Nix they really have no back up NT. I wonder if they call up Ryan Pickett again or if they talk to someone like Phil Taylor.

My first thought from preseason game 4 was Polk is in, Hilliard is out.

Also because Foster may come back sooner, they couldn't hold on to him.

They used him there a bit in preseason and he held his own despite the lack of planetoid size. He's more of a DT, but I like the move.
