Won't happen, he's the primary backup. The Texans dumped Webb hoping that they could bring in someone decent at QB and no one was available. Instead they are sticking with essentially not having any backup QB's worth playing.
I think having only 2 QBs is risky. And now they dont have Lechler the emergency QB. There are some interesting backups available.
Webb and Weeden are both terrible in a lot areas but we need bodies at the position in hope that the one (different) strength both of these qbs have will show up big IF (and i hope that IF doesn't come in play) their needed.
3 QBs is usually pointless but if Webb is going to be a plus special teams player then there’s not much to complain about.
On the first part, 2011 Texans say hi. Aside from having a scout team QB, injuries happen to QBs so often and you don't want to be scrambling through leftovers for your new backup.
Alright fine, I mean having 2 terrible QBs on the roster is a waste. Our season is essentially sunk if Watson goes down.
Lets not kid ourselves... the same could be said about the rest of the NFL. Last year with Foles, a backup QB, leading his team to a Super Bowl win, is an outlier. Come on, man.
Remember Brady started the season as a backup in his first SB. Jimmy G was a pretty good back up also. Steve Young was a backup. I think any well run organization tries to maintain good backups.
Bring on Kaep! Pretty crazy that he's still unsigned at this point. Not saying he's a great (or even above average) QB or anything...but some of the QBs in the league right now? Sheesh. You'd think he could nail down a roster spot somewhere...seems like good insurance given Watson's injury history.
Well hes going to trail with the NFL about his collusion case, so I dont think the NFL is gonna hire him anytime soon.
The Texans should keep Webb active on game days since he can play multiple positions. If Watson gets hurt Webb can come in...then start Weeden the next week if need be.
He's not any good at football and he's turned down every offer he's received from teams, opting instead to sue to NFL. He's a massive distraction, and he doesn't have the talent to justify it. Hard pass no matter what.
Still need to keep Weeden active in my opinion. For instance if Webb gets a concussion (or twists his ankle) making a special teams tackle, then the team is running without any backup QB options. At least last year they had the luxury of Lechler and Braxton if it came down to it.
