What revenue? Aren't the Astros locked into a specific yearly income from the TV deal now that they no longer have an ownership stake?
Those people that still can follow the team are all potential customers. They can buy merchandise, make road trips... They're reaching a fan base they couldnt with CSN. And, as far as the rights fees, details will come out as to escalators and when they can renegotiate. It's not a 20 year locked in deal. The key was getting them back on, and the rest will fall into place.
Quality of the channel was lame yesterday. Felt like I was watching an internet stream with all the stuttering.
Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the game is made. Astros-the T-shirt, Astros-the Coloring Book, Astros-the Lunch box, Astros-the Breakfast Cereal, Astros-the Flame Thrower. The kids love this one.
Laugh all you want, the man did what he had to under the circumstances in front of him and got it done. No sweat off your back anyway. You were watching the games the entire time.
Because I happen to live in an area that doesn't get uverse, and where satellite installation is virtually impossible... but yes, it still affects me when my teams can't be seen everywhere they should be seen, and it affects me when the ultimate "solution" is reached at a significantly delayed date (with countless rights fees unpaid), and it really being no better than the original "solution" (in fact, possibly worse if you consider the most likely scenario is going back to Fox Sports, which is covered by everybody... whereas ROOT still has a lot of work to do to reach Dish, TWC and sudden link). But yes, he made the most of a ****ty situation...
