On Pardon The Interruption they were very split on who they would pick as rookie of the year.

    Arguments why Cam Newton:
    - Panthers have a rookie head coach, and he is doing a good job carrying the load.
    - Statistically better

    Arguments for Andy Dalton:
    - Bengals have the better record
    - Cares for the ball better

    Statistics:

    Cam Newton:

GP CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD LNG INT FUM RAT
    8 174 287 60.6 2,393 8.34 11 77 9 3 87.1

    Andy Dalton

GP CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD LNG INT FUM RAT
    8 158 257 61.5 1,696 6.60 12 84 7 1 85.0

If Bengals make playoffs, I'd go with Dalton.

This is pretty important for this comparison. One thing I like to do to evaluate scrambling quarterbacks is calculate what their QB Ratings would look like if you added every rushing attempt as an attempt & completion, every rushing TD as a passing TD, and every fumble lost as an INT. It's obviously not perfect (and QB rating isn't perfect anyway), but it's a quick and dirty way of measuring the impact of a QB's running ability.

I'd take Cam any and every day. The Bungals actually have a good defense to keep them in games while the Panthers have to try and outscore to win. Cam is THE guy to build a team around. He just has it all.

It is closer than people want to think due to Cincy winning this year after being terrible last year.

Still, it has to be Newton.

I think the Panthers end up with a similar record as the Bengals. Panthers had many close losses. A few plays go their way, and they're a .500 team.

Cam is the better player no doubt, but I if I had to vote today I'll give it to Dalton. I know he has a great defence but no one still saw this - 6-2 coming and let's not forget Dalton has more TD passes and less INTs than Cam.

Very good question. I haven't seen Andy Dalton play at all and don't have a feel for how good he is. Need to watch him at least twice to make a fair comparison.

Cam from the rushing TD perspective at this point but there is still a lot of season to go.

Regardless, Dalton has played very well. Great get by cincy

Defensive rookie of the year... who ya got?

Von Miller: 25 solo tackles, 6 assist, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles
Aldon Smith: 12 solo, 1 assist, 6.5 sacks, 1 FF
Brooks Reed: 18 solo, 7 assist, 4 sacks
    Ryan Kerrigan: 23 solo, 12 assist, 3 sacks, 4 pass defenses, 1 int, 1 td, 2 FF
Marcel Dareus: 17 solo, 7 assist, 3.5 sacks, 1 fum rec
JJ Watt: 27 solo, 2 assist, 2 sacks, 2 fum rec
Patrick Peterson: 31 solo, 4 assist, 10 pass def, 2 int (3 punt return TDs, 21.8 yard avg)
Mason Foster: 29 solo, 12 assist, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 1 Fum rec

I think it's a 3 horse race, with Peterson in the lead, followed by Miller, then Kerrigan... with Foster getting an honorable mention. Lots of football left, though.

It is Von Miller. The one time I watched Arizona, Anquan Boldin was making Patrick Peterson his b****.
