Derrick Rose is/was subpar defender at best. Give Kyrie best defensive, rebounding, deep and best coached team and that team will be better than Bulls ever were with Rose. The only Cavs player who could start on a playoff team is Varejao. Even their second leading scorer Waiters would be in D-league on a contender. And yet he basically go out there almost plays 1 on 5 and he is still more efficient that Rose ever was. Best ballhandler in the game, top 5 clutch player. On the other hand, I don't think you are contender with Rondo as your primary ballhandler. He just isn't good enough.
#1 Magic is a level above Stockton, not even close #2 Stockton is a level above Rando, not even close Rondo is one of the best point guards in the league right now, but not an all time great like Magic, Robertson, Magic, Thomas, Payton, Nash or Stockton. Currently a healthy Paul, Rose and Westbrook are clearly better.
Everyone knows he's looking for assist numbers. He's always passing up layups, they blew like a 2 on 0 fastbreak earlier this season because of it.
Rondo is the best pg right now. As usual ppl don't factor in defense enough. Rondo and Payton are in another league of defense vs Stockton. Rondo is every bit the passer and floor general as Stockton. Stockton is a vastly superior shooter but rondo is a vastly superior defender. Saying rondo's assists are not impressive is hogwash I'm pretty sure magic is on record agreeing with me
Rondo benefits a lot from Doc's defensive schemes and the Celtics' overall strong team defense. People overrate the importance of perimeter D anyway, especially point guard defense. Importance of defense at each position basically goes 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, with the 5 being by far the most important and the 1 being by far the least. There are a variety of reasons for this but mainly it's because your help defense is more effective the bigger you are. A lot of Rondo's supposed "eliteness" is tied up in the overall strength of the Boston team throughout his tenure, on both offense and defense. You could not plug him into just any team and have him perform like a great player. For example, if the Rockets had traded Lin for Rondo and kept Martin instead of trading for James Harden, they would be a lot worse of a team than they are right now... a LOT worse. And Rondo would probably be averaging under 10 assists per game. That's because Harden is a legit star who you can put on any team and give him the ball and he'll produce. Rondo needs strong talent around him or he's just a good player, not a star.
Yes, I feel the same way also. If you put Rondo on a horrible team and have him carry it himself, he would struggled and would most likely wouldn't be a star like he is now. The Celtics system helps him out a lot and made him the player he is today.
Kyrie is an unbelievable talent and he's quickly becoming one of the best scoring PGs. But I think because Rose was out for so long, everyone is quickly forgetting just how good Rose was. Rose isn't the type of play maker like CP3 or Nash but he can take over games with his scoring and he was so explosive. I remember a few years ago when Rose went head to head with Rondo in the playoffs, Rose flat out dominated Rondo.
i hate rondo as a player. hated him even more in the magic game when he passed on a wide open fast break layup behind him when his teamates were at halfourt. stat padder
Stupid list. Russell Westbrook is absolutely r****ded on offensive AND especially r****ded on defense. The BIGGEST assist stuffer in history cos he's got KD, otherwise he's the worst PG in the league. Kyrie Irving is too much of a ball hog. Deron William's can't shoot for crap this season. Rondo w. a jumper would be the best PG in the league. 1. Derrick Rose 2. Tony Parker 3. Rondo 4. Chris Paul 5. Deron Williams
Give Toney Douglas the best defensive, rebounding, deep and best coached team and he will win the championship. Stupid post. So what if ur the best ballhandler in the game which he isn't. When did ball handling win games? How is he a top 5 clutch player? 1. Melo 2. KD 3. Kobe 4. LBJ 5. Manu 6. CP3 7. Toney Parker 8. Dwayne Wade Where the F3CK does Kyrie Irving come in
Westbrook is close to 20-10-5 which was only accomplished by three players(Magic, Oscar and Chris Paul). He's primary ballhandler of NBA best offense and they got 17th best ORTG in NBA history right now. Not to mention that he outplayed Parker in last postseason so you have to put him over him. The difference beetwen Chris Paul and everyone else is enormous you can only have him at 4th if you are talking about greatest PG in NBA history. 19yo Irving was much more efficient that Rose ever was and he is averaging 24.3 PPG per 36 minutes right now which is better than 24.1 PPG per 36 minutes in his 36 minutes in Rose's MVP season. Irving got: Higher PER Higher TS% Higher AST% Higher RB% Higher STL% Point was that Bulls are/was all that without or with Rose. And Irving is better player, especially in the clutch: http://www.82games.com/1112/CSORT11.HTM top 5 clutch players are: 1. Durant 2. Irving 3. Kobe 4. Melo 5. CP3/Dirk
That's irrelevant because he doesn't have a jumper. That's like saying "Yao Ming would have been the best center ever if he could hit threes and stay healthy" and then ranking him above Olajuwon and Kareem. My list: 1) Chris Paul 2) Rose (as of last season, it's totally possible that he never returns to form) 3) Rondo ) Williams 5) Westbrook 6) Irving
Exactly. I do agree that he is one of the top PGs in the league, and he does make his team significantly better. But if he was so great, he would be making the team win more games and be better overall offensively. Just because he averages 12.9 APG, its unfair to be comparing him to the greatest PGs such as Magic, Stockton, etc imo.
