this is a thread to discuss Ron Artest's defense. Yeah tats right, to bash his defense. I'm not going to start a poll lik tinman asking whether ppl hav really watched the game before they bash me with this. I know for those who catch the highlight might see Artest's strip and start crapping into my face about it. But I'm afraid it's official, Ron Artest's defense is average at best.

    1. he repeatedly got owned by rudy fernandes in the fourth quarter by failing to fight thru screen effectively.

    2. got owned by brandon roy in AT LEAST 5 instances in overtime.

heck....i'm too pissed off to type anymore.....discuss as you wish. we need battier back badly.

I totally agree. Firstly, he was getting owned by Rudy with the screens, giving him open 3s and dunks. Then on Roy, he gets ankle broken basically every play, which then resulted in a layup or a dish. Seriously...we need Battier back so badly it's not funny.

I agree. If not Ron it wouldn't have been an overtime. It is on refs, they made a mistake

Artest did a fantastic job on Roy. Fernandez is a tough cover for him -- he's not so great chasing guys around screens.

Those last two shots Roy hit -- Artest got tripped up by McGrady on the first one, and T-Mac was late to recover to Roy on the game winner. You can't pin that all on Ron.

And anyone who thinks Battier would do a better job on Roy than Artest hasn't been paying attention to our games in previous years. Artest is flat out a better on-ball defender.

this guy has played the best lockdown d Ive seen for a perimeter defender, sometimes players will just knock down tough shots because they are hot, its nba basketball, at any given night the worst team in the league can beat the best

Ron played good defense all night. It's unfortunate the way the game ended, but some of yall truly need to look at the big picture. Like Durvasa said, Ron is not one to be chasing around screens so much. His body is too big and although he is quick, he isn't that quick to be running around in circles like Rudy was getting him to do.

Shane is a much better defender when running around in circles with players like Fernandez.

    do not agree with you.

He stop gay, howard, durant, and pierce from scoring.

Roy have a bad day whole game, until the final 2 shots, TWO 360 degree turn and jump shot. The first one with landry sliding on artest's foot and the other a buzzer beater.

Ron plays great defense because he plays close up but he is dumb because he should have backed up and not let Roy be able to cross him up. Back up and make hm shoot jumpers.

while roy struggled overall, artest needed to be backing off of roy in the 4th. roy broke him down repeatedly off the dribble and ron kept getting up on him, even though roy couldn't shoot (until that last shot).

mother****er, are we ever on the good end of miraculous buzzer beaters? i mean ****, we go up 1 with 0.8 left and a guy hits a 30 foot turnaround 3. as soon as he shot, i was hoping it was short, but the longer it went the more perfect i could tell it was, and then swish, game over.

you have got to be kidding dude. ron could play D like mcgrady all day and give up jumpers and let people blow by him, but he doesn't. he is aggressive and when you play aggressive d you will give up some points here and there.

Artest plays VERY aggressive defense. It can be a great thing for us and it could be a bad thing for us at times.

You just have to live with it. Take the good with the bad. He's going to make some plays on defense and he's going to give up some plays because of his style.
