When did I ever say that Yao wasn't important? I only commented on Artest vs ARIZA. Quit making up stuff.

Fixed that for you, and yes I think Artest did quite well given the circumstances.

Alot of people disappeared during the LA series.

Of course its incorrect, because I never said it. Stop making up stuff.

I said Ron was a good player ON THE ROCKETS, better than ARIZA. That's all I said. Learn to read.

DD we signed Ariza using the Disabled Player Exception from Yao. The MLE was split between David Anderson, Jermane Taylor, and Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

Also, since we were so far over the cap even if we didn't spend the MLE we would have still been over the it this season.

But at the very least Ariza won't get any worse or decline rapidly over the next 5 years. Ron oth may retire within the next 3 years.

yea. . but we were trying REALLY HARD for that Frugly chick
    and striking out before Ron
    *grin*

Give the man his due. He brought much needed Toughness.
He and Battier made the Rockets strong Defensely

Ron and Battier > Ariza and Battier

Then again . . folx around here only look at offense

Yes, but the money still counts as part of the cap.

off topic, but could the same thing be applied to Dwight Howard? his the same age as Ariza, and has been in the league for the same amount of time... is his current ability the best Dwight Howard will get?

PS. I think Ariza will play better once his given the position of the 3rd or 4th option on the team ... we saw evidence of this toward the end of the season.

Yeah, I think Dwight is what he is.....he has not shown significant growth in his offensive game.

He has no signature move....maybe he will get one, but so far, nada.

The problem with Ariza though is that he is a PERIMETER player, who can't dribble....that alone will hinder his development.

It does, but from a cap flexibility stand point signing someone for MLE money won't matter for us one way or another.

At the start of 09-10 season our payroll was around $78 million, thats $72 million without Ariza. The cap was set at $58 million. So even if we didn't sign Ariza we would still have been way over the cap.
