I totally agree, I love him as a character but a lot of people seem to forgot what it was actually like watching him play with us.

I feel like Ron and Ariza got alot of pressure put on them on offense when they are really defensive specialists/role-players on offense. At the time we were down Yao and tmac, so they were promoted from 4-5 options to top 3...I think they would both fit the composition of our team now with kmart than they did before.

Also... Can someone repost the link please.

Dude's in love with Luis. He probably store some scola trousers from the locker room and hung them next to his scola jersey at his place.

Yea... getting out of the first round of the playoffs in over a decade was no fun at all.

Pushing the eventual world champs to 7 epic games and having the whole country outside of LA root for us totally sucked as well.

Say what you want about Ron but he brought the best out of all his teammates when he was here. I credit TUR WARIER for our toughness and IDENTITY that we had last year and the year he spent with us. Why last year? Because it carried over from the previous year even though he left us. That foundation had been built.

When we had Artest we played with confidence and we weren't afraid of playing tough or making a hard foul because you knew Artest had everyones back. I agree Ron's shot selection was questionable at times and decision making wasn't always the best but you ABSOULUTELY CAN NOT DENY the end result. End result being one of the best years since the glory days and one of my personal favorite years watching the Rockets.

A lot of fun? Good overall basketball? A winning team? A playoff team that got out of the first round?

    Some people forget so easily.

We win like 10 championships with Yao, Artest, T-Mac and Deke. If they all stayed healthy!!!

That's funny because I remember a lot of other players actually stepping up during that run but then again what do I know I only watched every single game that year, like every other....

Was Artest a part of the Rockets when they were playing good overall basketball?

Was he in the starting lineup?

    Was he a leader?

Did he have a significant role on that team?

I really doubt that, they stepped up because they rose to the occassion. As a Rocket Artest was unpredictable and erratic, he'd have hot games but he's have just as many bad ones to offset them.

In both of those playoff series he didn't do anything worthy of incredible basketball praise.

Brooks and Scola, that's a different story but hey man whatever like I said I enjoy him as a character but I shed no tear when he was gone.

You're missing the point. He helped us get out of the first round in 12 years. Something Steve "Franchise" and not even McGrady could do. He helped push the Lakers to the max. He brought the best out of Brooks and Scola. That's worthy of incredible praise in my book.

We had Brooks and Scola last year and we have them this year too. We were a lottery team last year and we're going nowhere fast this year.

Give credit where credit is due.

Sorry, I give a lot more credit to Scola and Brooks, the amount of overpraise for Artest the basketball player as a Rockets is just insane.

Artest is a lot of things but a leader is not one of them.

I'm with you on this. Suddenly Artest is credited for the improvement in other players? He's just a crazy, competitive guy with a penchant for bricking everything except the occasional 3 pointer. He's like Shane on crazy pills.

That's because you don't know **** about basketball, as much as you like to tell yourself that you do.

I honestly don't know why he gets booed now at Rockets-Lakers games.

Dude came here, helped this team advance in the playoffs, then became a FREE agent and decided to sign with a team with which he could win a championship. He did nothing wrong by Houston or the Rockets in how he left.

People need to lay off the guy. I take pride in how Houston fans (unlike most other sports towns) actually CHEER for most players who formerly played on Houston teams when they return to Houston in another uniform. It's just the classy thing to do.
