Johnny Rhodes and Exree Hipp are available, if their Harlem Globetrotters contracts can be bought out.

"I seriously doubt that Chris Mihm and Jason Collier would be able to help the Rockets."

    Why not?

Can someone please give me a concrete reason as to why these guys wouldn't help us? Is it because they are white?

Anytime anyone mentions their name someone comes up with some absurd comparison to Eric Montross or someone like him.

Folks, I know this might be a bit absurd, but not every white go is slow and unathletic.

I have sat here and listen to people talk about how much Bryce Drew sucks and how stupid it was for us to pick him because we already had a point guard (Maloney) who was a shooting specialist.

Okay, people look at Drew, they see a white point guard who is best known for hitting a clutch jumper in the NCAA Tournament. Poof! Bryce Drew becomes a slow, unathletic shooting specialist.

Basketball and life are not that easy to stereotype. I'm not necessarily saying that Collier, Mihm, or Drew will be the next anything. That's my whole point. You can't fit players into stereotypes like "white men can't jump". You have to actually make the effort to watch them and study up on them before you make half-ass comparisons like "Mihm will be the next Montross."

and no white center has ever been good.j/k

  4. No some of us say that Drew and Mihm are unatheletic, because they are. Regardless of color.

OK so maybe Mihm won't be the next Montross, but maybe the next Laetner, or Big Country. Or even Better, maybe another Adonal Foyle. [IMG]

If someone thinks all white boys are unathletic, you only have to look at Austin Croshere and Brent Barry to be proven otherwise.

Excuse my ignorance, Brahma Rocket, but wasn't George Mikan a white superstar center?

Not said with sarcasm. He just came to mind is all.

"Some of us say that Drew and Mihm are unathletic because they are."

    That's really convienient.

So basically what you're saying is that I can pull any statement out of my a** without the appearence of bias.

For example, I could say that Cattino Mobley isn't a smart basketball player.

Of course, I wouldn't have to actually back that up with anything. The statement becomes a valid opinion inofitself.
