I like your take on this. I don't mind seeing Aquille at all. I know we don't have many big guys but TJones isn't exactly big anyway.
We may be trying to get Carlos Delfino back, so McHale can play him at the PF for us. Are we playing Pau Gasol and the Bulls soon?
Would be thrilled if the Delfino thing was true. Great stretch shooter. Another Thornton would be nice.
Hard Cap, was expected... The money freed up under the cap by Dwight Howard's suspension was put into Chuck's pocket...this was Les 'looking after one of his guys.' It also gave him an opportunity to audition for other teams & land another contract...if that doesn't happen here or overseas (China) look for The Chuckwagon to slide onto our coaching staff to teach the bigs how to hold position on D.
Les might have authorized it, but Morey must have thought it up. I used to really hate it when people said Morey was a heartless GM who just traded players like assets. But if you look back at Morey's transactions, he tries to put players into positions they can succeed. Or given them a chance to get minutes in a contract year.
I don't know either. I thought for the minutes he played, he was pretty solid defensively. And post defenders are what we really need, as Capela is still a bit raw, Dwight is not fully healthy, and Jones/DMo are hurt.
I don't know why so many people are not getting this concept. We're not going to cut a min journeyman in Chuck Hayes to pickup some other journeyman for the same price. Morey is counting the pennies between his salary commitments and the hard cap. He's saving up in case some opportunity comes along midyear. If nothing comes, we might pickup Hayes or someone else after the trade deadline to finish the year. But Aquille and Joshua Smith don't have a place here before then. Morey has very, very limited resources right now to spend on the IR.
