I hear some "analysts" saying that warriors are going to be better than the Rockets this upcoming season. Where is the logic behind that? We just got Howard. Golden State lost Jarret and Landry in free agency; i acknowledge they acquired Iggy but i think Golden State is being overrated a little bit. Hell, last season Rockets won 3 out of 4 meetings, including 2 in Cali. How can people still say Warriors are better than the Rockets?
For whatever reason I think it's kind of popular to root for the Warriors... I noticed it first when they were the 8th seed and beat 1st seed Dallas in the first round of the play offs a few years ago... Man that was back when Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and Jason Richardson were all relevant. Anyways, I think all season people will be taking about the Warriors as if they're amazing but we'll see if Bogut can stay on the court and if Steph can keep his ankles from imploding. Those are big ifs...
Lin <<< Curry Harden >>> Thompson Parsons = Iguadola Motiejunas << Lee Howard >>> Bogut Rox Bench (Asik, Bev, Garcia, Jones) > GSW Bench (Barnes, Speights, Green, Ezeli) I think we've the advantage.
They replaced Jack and Landry with Iguodala and Speights. They've definitely improved. Curry, Barnes and Klay can only get better too. As it stands I'd take their team over ours.
47 wins vs 45 wins, with 3/4 of season games going to rockets. They gained Iggy for Jack and Landry. We got Howard for Delfino and TRob. I don't see how anyone can possibly have them ahead of us.
This will be the match-up/rivalry I most anticipate for next season. Both teams upped their defense and versatility. The only real advantage I'm seeing for the Rockets is the bench. Side note: Warriors somehow got assets while being completely capped out. Very intriguing.
they will go to curry all day and Iggy might stop the beard. so we have Parsons and Howard who can run the show. Mchale should attack the mismatch and thats something he didn't do last season
I hated the warriors after they hacked us at Toyota Center to prevent us from getting the NBA 3point record. I will be buying both games to the warriors to hopefully watch the rockets just open of can of you know what on them!
Rockets beat the Warriors 3/4 games and had a higher point differential which is more indicative of how good a team performs during the regular season. They did impress in the playoffs though, capitalizing on the Nuggets shooting droughts and George Karl's inability to coach his team past a first round.
Like others have mentioned, you are underestimating Iggy a bit. He may not be a Lebron, Melo, or Pierce, but he is still quite a bit better than Parsons currently is. Iggy is a MUCH better defender and IMO still a better scorer. He is quicker and more athletic. I am fine for the "<<<" on Lin for now, but part of me thinks Lin will close that gap a bit more. He started looking a lot better before he got hurt, then like most hurt players, looked like crap afterwards.
Even before the Warriors picked up Speights the media were in love with the warriors. They lost 2 of their most influential players in Jack and Mandry, yet they pick them over us even though the Rockets CRUSHED them 3 ot 4 times in the regular season? Just because Warriors got a favorable draw in the playoffs (admittedly the Rockets fault for not winning down the stretch) they think that the warriors are the real deal? pfft.
