Well, why do all these old folks claim that defenses today suck and it's too easy. I don't think it's that easy. Sure, they don't have to muscle up as much but they do have to play a smarter game. First few buckets were all layups, no contested shots, basic dribbles moves and lay ups.
You do realize zones are legal now and they weren't back then, and the main thing is you couldn't double team a player back then unless they had the basketball.
Awesome game, series, and post-season run. I just wish there was more success before and after... not just basketball, but baseball and football too. Plenty locals dog Cow-fans for holding on to the past. We need to do better.
LOL. Guys were soft back then. they just didn't have a lot of Harden type when they pretend to play defense because you would get pulled
Marv still calls games for TNT. I don't know man - I really didn't like them at all. I think JVG is so much better.
Things that stuck out to me: Steve Jones is still alive, yet we have to listen to Mark Jackson now - why? The uniforms and court seemed to look a lot better back then. Has anyone noticed this yet?
I miss the NBC intro music, still the best ever for an NBA broadcast. I also miss the way the game was played and the amazing talent we were lucky enough to see.
Ya'll are also forgetting that zone defenses were illegal back then. Every player had to be "guarding someone else". You could double and have two guys guarding 1 person, but then it was scampering to cover the open man. As a result there was more space to play "iso ball".
