I gotta trust the Rockets on this decision. If MVP thought Melton was worth keeping, he'd still be a Rocket. I trust MVP.
I'm glad the trade happened and what we got in return. I just don't see why we bought a pick to get V. Edwards. He looked terrible in SL.
I must say, Barkley fit the Suns jersey, Kevin Johnson fit the Suns jersey, Steve Nash fit the Suns jersey. So did Dan Majerle. Ariza and Ryno look out of place.
Someone can make a poll thread: Who will get paid more per game played next season, Brandon Knight or Ryan Anderson?
Ryan Anderson looks wonderful in that Suns jersey. Just wonderful. Trevor, thanks for talking up Anderson with the Suns management.
Before we jump on him for the Ryno deal I must remind you all Knight has yet to play a game and just had an issue with the same knee. Chriss doesn’t look good so Melton could be better than him. Yes Knight’s contract is a few mil less but from their perspective maybe playing Ryno a little with Ayton is better than never playing Knight. Just saying, let’s not send bad karma our way.
We have sent enough good vibes to Ryno last season, so much so that there are still plenty left to counter any bad karma.
Yeah, until Knight is healthy and contributing I can't say we've really won the trade. Chriss hasn't looked great while Melton looks decent. We've won from a financial perspective because the savings in luxury tax, but talent wise it's not clear.
Knight is meaningfully cheaper - like 25%. Might not seem like a lot but from perspective of wtf deals that’s not why it was so hard to move Ryno in the first place. Also, a healthy Knight is actually a really solid PG in the modern NBA. I doubt we’ll see healthy Knight though. Unclear on health is probably the worse scenario. If he was inired and out the year Tilman could collect insurance and the Rockets could maybe get a DPE. All that said... the Ariza contract indeed was much stranger to me. Not sure who else they might have gotten, but $15 million is a lot of money for veteran leadership. Tyreke Evans Will Barton Marcus Smart
Oh no, I know we saved a ton on luxury tax and salary. Knight hasn't been healthy since 15-16 and is still injured now. I'd love to see him play, but there's a good chance he'll just be perpetually injured.
