Rockets trade Ryan Anderson to Suns

His shot can't be uglier than Kidd Gilchrist's. That alone is encouraging.

 

Why's it strange to keep the flexibility to trade him (avoiding the 30-day no-trade period), when you own his draft rights to sign him?

fwiw: Montrezl didn't sign until Sept -- waiting until last day for when Rockets had to submit tender offer.

 

I've come around on the trade. It's annoying to lose Melton, but Knight cannot possibly be worse than Anderson, and Chriss cannot possibly be as useless here as he was in Phoenix. Screw it.

Good point. Still, I can't help but imagine Morey having a Rox FO employee "leak" info to eager reporters about how the team is convinced this guy is going to be a starter and maybe even a star. A half-dozen articles later, you have a 2nd-round pick that teams want even MORE than they want a 1st-round pick. I could be crazy, but this strikes me as a possible Murray chess move.

You may well be correct.

However...

Harden + Paul setting up Chriss I have to think is more advantageous than anything he's had in Phoenix. Playing behind/learning from Capela will also help.

Knight obviously can get injured at any moment, but I can't see any way he's less effective than Ryan Anderson. Will he be effective? Unlikely. But better than Ryno? I'll say likely, if healthy.

Once again...neither will move the needle against the Warriors. We already punted that when we replaced Luc and Ariza with Melo and Ennis. But for the regular season, I can see these being decently helpful moves relative to expectations.

 

So are we doing a 3 team trade? Trade still isn’t official right?

 

I am just saying what he was doing was incredible on the court. It wasn't his points, it was the basketball IQ he was showing. I've never seen a rookie make the kind of decisions he was making. He's going to be a star.

 

I don't have any information on this and don't trust the other thread. I am pretty sure if we wanted to expand this trade to a third team as a simultaneous trade we could still do it. I just don't see it right now. Maybe Morey is working on something but I see the main activity happening before and around the deadline.

 

Yeah, they viewed him as a second cornerstone once. Here he is like the 9th guy.

 

Trade is completely official as both Rockets website and Morley announced it. Can't trade Knight or Chriss for at least 60 days now I believe?

 

From my understanding we can trade them but they can’t be traded with another player until like October 31st
