Question: From a Grizzlies Fan: How would you rate shane's play of late, is he still a defensive stopper, has he lost a step. Or are we getting a player that is still elite on defense or not?

Apparently Thabeet cares more about his next trip to the mall than at getting better at basketball, at least according to this Memphis sportstalk host on with Sean on 1560 right now. He said quote, "that ba$tard's at the mall every 30 minutes, just check his twitter; Hasheem the Dream is at the mall."

    This is really simple people.

The Rockets just traded Battier (terrible starting sf that added nothing to a mediocre team, in the last year of his contract) for a 7'3" nigerian center from Houston that has only been in the league for 2 years. Could the Rockets get a 7'3" center in the draft this year? Of course they couldn't.

Thabeet has a lot to prove, but this was a great deal considering the positions the Rockets are currently in as a team. They have to swing on projects like Thabeet, because they are stuck between being good and bad.

If you are mad about this trade, you simply don't know what you're talking about and should post less.

Hey, everyone's been pining for TWill to get playing time. Well, he's now the main backup at the 3.

Battier traded for a #2 pick and a potential late lottery pick?

    Talk about value

Gotta wait and see on both of these trades though...i hope we draft well.

    Ummmm... according to this:

" * Yahoo! Sports reports that the Memphis Grizzlies have traded project center Hasheem Thabeet to the Houston Rockets for a first round pick and the expiring contract of Shane Battier. Chris Vernon reports the same."

It sounds like we are sending Battier and OUR 1st rd pick to Memphis for Thabeet. That can't be right can it??

Thats right, sounds like a done deal.

I guess Chase moves into the starting lineup.

At least the Rockets have a team option on him next year and can cut bait if they don't like what they see.

Chris Vernon was just on with Sean on 1560 and confirmed the pick is coming to Houston, not the other way around.

I've been critical of Morey for not taking more risks, Well I think this qualifies. I love the 1st rounder he got to cover his butt. Well played. He promised trading for a star, but appears to be in draft gathering mode now though. So be it. I like it. Battier is a class act but it was time to move on. We gotta rebuild.

Disappointing so far. I was hoping for a better big than Thabeet.

Sad to see Shane go anyway, but not surprised. :(
