Historical facts aside, I'm glad we have a back up PG. I'm not confident in Douglas and I don't think Livingston can hold up over 82.
He's the best of the Point Guards that were still left on the free-agent pile, so I'm fine with this. All bets are off until he proves himself in official NBA games, but it doesn't hurt to sign young talent with upside.
Great news, at least this will push Fortson, Toney & Shaun to work even more for the back up PG spot!
Why..? Machado is a young kid with a possibility for a bright future - and he hasn't done anything to you or the Rockets except say that he wants to prove himself.
His situation of being the asst leader and not being drafted kinda reminds me of Case Keenum scenario. Though it seems they lack in physical aspect, only time will tell if they can beat the status quo.
but after watching lin in our preseason last year i was thinking the opposite - it was pretty obvious lin had game and there were hundreds of posts in this forum supporting that thought at the time. btw, lin's first step, speed, and hops are far far superior to machado's.
Lin was undrafted, his first contract was a non-g. And he sucked in his first year. I am a Lin fan since 2009, but it was, at moments, a bit painful watching him play during his first NBA year, well, except those D-league games. I was just suggesting not to cross Machado completely off before he actually plays a few NBA games with heavy mins.
Yup! If I remember correctly.....Many couldn't understand the move at that time. Rockets didnt wave their worst player. Fans knew Lin was better than Flynn but McHale thought otherwise + Flynn's contract situation. The move was also to allow the signing of Samuel Dalembert.
Honestly, what are the Rockets doing? You have to have a few vets around to develop the youngsters or it will be a lost cause. Royce White is obviously that type of guy that can lead, but he's a rookie. Who will teach these guys the veteran ways that win ball games? The Rockets need to sign one genius unathlethic vet to make these rookies look good.
I'm okay with this signing, he has good point guard skills and the potential is there.. we'll see if he pans out or just becomes another scrub.
I agreed. The kid was nice in SL. I think he has a lot of potential. He can't score or shoot but he can pass. Lin can score the ball so hopefully they build up a nice chemistry. Fans are indignant over what the NY media said in regards to Machado. Lin i am sure doesn't even care because he knows what the NY media is like.
one of the best videos I have ever seen. I found by accident today.. yeah it's early morning.. so what I'm up and it's cool outside. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=QoKMBu9lAuo in joy! zzpot
He is a Knicks fan and is from NY. He really wants to be a Knicks so he talked to NY Times after SL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_EbF4wOIn4
