    Just had a thought.

Anyone else think it's kinda funny that T-Mac's ultimate destination is the same as our last savior.... Steve Francis.

    Agreed.

We've actually loaded up on bigs in this deal -- Hill, Armstrong, and Jeffries are all 6-10+, though we traded Landry and Dorsey.

Given Lowry's injury, my guess is keeping Temple around as the backup point guard is probably more critical than having Brian Cook battle Hilton Armstrong for 3rd string center.

Edit: The other thing is we can probably expect to see a little more small ball with Ariza/Battier at the 4 spot.

We may still be small at center with Yao out, but suddenly we have an overload of 6-10 PFs and 6-7 swingmen. Gone are the small ball days I suppose, and we're still pretty athletic and fast!

One twisted ankle and a freak accident getting your wrist broke in between players in a career does not make one injury prone. It makes them unlucky. Is lowry injury prone because he rolled his ankle?

    Another thought.

I was worried about losing the youth of Landry. Just checked. Martin's only a year older.

    Man I love this deal.

nab.com has that Larry Hughes is coming here but espn has that Hughes is going to Sac. Damn these reporters!

    A few points:

Martin will not have to log the heavy minutes in Houston that he did in Sacto. He had to be the man every game to give that team a chance. Here, Yao will be the man and Martin a very good cog with some other good pieces, er, assets. With a little luck (and we are due some), the lesser minutes will help with future injuries.

Those picks are amazing. I don't know what's going to happen, but right now I think the odds of LeBron and another top FA going to NY are low... no talent, no future, and a coaching philosophy that traditionally runs into a wall come playoff time. I think LBJ is smarter than that and I know some of his advisers are... same for Wade.

I now hate Morey for forcing me to care about high school basketball, since one of the top juniors or seniors could soon be a Rocket. Who are the top 10 HS prospects?

To balance the talent on the roster. We had no true NBA quality SG. Meanwhile, we had two very good PF who both are capable of playing more minutes.

    1. That's what it took.

    2. Landry will break the bank when he becomes a FA.

    3. We needed a SG.

Do you like Kmart, future picks, and 8th pick of this year as return? You have to give up something for value.

Beat me to it. Man, I understand that he has missed games but all of his injuries were #1) freak accidents and #2) pretty severe. The bone that he broke on his wrist (hustling up on D no less) was like the smallest bone in the wrist that you can break. The Doctors even said that anyone else put in that position would have most likely broken that same bone.

I guess it's like people saying that Matt Schaub is injury prone because guys are always giving him dirty hits after the whistle.

I do not think the NBA has approved the trade yet. Players have to pass the physics first. I guess that everyone is in the clinics right now. :p

Okay, I am preemptively begging people here NOT to do the following at any point during the next season and a half:

Saying what a scrub Jared Jeffries is and asking, "How come the Rockets are paying this guy $7 million?!"

Every single living human being working in an NBA front office KNOWS that Jeffries is ludicrously overpaid and that his contract is an albatross. But THAT is the very fact that enabled the Rockets to obtain what may end up being two top-10 lottery picks over the next three NBA Drafts.

Frankly, right about now, next to Daryl Morey, Jared Jeffries is my hero.
