We have about half of the season to clone Jordan Hill into Carl Landry before big BIG brother Yao come back next year. You don't want to disappoint the big fellow!!!

Are we sending Temple back to the D-League now that we have 16 players including Temple?

A fatal error that Morey will regret for the rest of his days. A CD like error. Kevin Martin's value is fool's gold. No,he is even less than that. He is injured more than half of the time, and doesn't play a lick of defense. Landry used to try to defend even though he wasn't good at it.
DM's first big mistake. I felt he was going to make one,and he has done it.

Frankly,I'm shocked to say the least. Landry was our best player on a lot of occasions. We are going to miss him immensely. Scola will try hard, but he will come under a huge amount of pressure.

I would have only considered giving Carl up if the Kings handed over their unprotected 1st rounder plus Casspi. This move will bite us for a long time.

Les is obviously to blame, but Morey can't be excused for this. Neither can Adelman.
Hill can't be expected to replace Carl, despite his upside. The only redeeming part could be the draft picks, but we will have to see how that works out.

Kevin is a good enough ball handler to play PG part time until Lowry comes back if need be.

Get over your obsession with Landry. We traded him for a scoring 2-guard, 2 young/athletic 6'11 PFs, and a lottery pick

There is a reason Kings are better WITHOUT Martin.

    i think that's a very unfair assessment.

kevin martin's value is legit, and for the type of impact he will provide his contract is very reasonable. health being the primary concern. you traded a bench player for one of the top 7 scorers in the NBA. you don't like that? you used a position of strength (power forward) to shore up an area of weakness (scoring wing). you don't like that? Carl Landry has performed at his current level for less than one year. remember that. kevin martin is much more proven in this league than carl. morey himself even said that he thought Carl was playing over his head this year. you have to sell high on that. especially considering he has had serious knee/leg issues in the past and his long term durability was not a given.

while it may be true that kevin martin is an injury risk, so is/was carl. but if both stay healthy from here on out, kevin martin is on a different level than carl. and on top of that, you got picks and young talent at the power forward position to develop into Landry's replacement.

I don't mind your comments. I don't think Martin and co will be able to help us out. Landry had his limitations, but I feel we will become stuck with Kevin's contract. He is at risk of breaking down physically and plays only on one end of the floor. There is no doubt that we need more scoring and shooting, but that's not going to be enough in my opinion.

    Yes.

And a potential swap of first rounders with NYK in 2011 (Top 1 protected).

And NYK's 2012 first rounder (Top 5 protected).

Top 10 scorers aren't all that easy to come across, especially great FG% and 3p% ... less Ariza shooting, more Martin shooting will be an added bonus. We'll suffer in the post this season, but Martin is the SG we have always needed to pair with Yao. His defense and health is a question mark, but he has a reasonable salary IMO. Not crippling if he's not as good as expected...we can still put a good team around him which will only make him better.

And getting the Knick picks makes it a no-brainer. Every GM in the league would've made this move- trading ONE good player and an expiring contract for a second-tier star, a lottery pick, and two future first rounders.

    Probably so. However, . . .

Now that the trade deadline has passed and the Rockets are (pretty much) definitively under the luxury tax threshold, don't be surprised if BRIAN COOK is the one who is (finally) waived.
