That is understandable. Thanks for clarifying. If you make moves that depletes your big rotation, then he's there I guess. I saw a few other ones like this one- http://fansided.com/2014/07/15/carlos-boozer-rumors-houston-rockets-interested/ However, its probably likely that Cyberx is even more plugged in than outlets like this.... who are probably getting their info from Clutchfans/Cyberx to begin with LOL. IMO, this seems like another one of those instances where a players agent tries to create a false market for their player to spurn interest, and the Rockets are an easy name to throw in because who wouldn't think the Rockets would be interested in everyone? Its like saying the Sixers are interested in absorbing a bad contract for a draft pick? Who wouldn't believe that?
As long as we dont have to give up anyone to get him, im for it, for depth purposes. Guy can shoot free throws at least.
I wouldn't be surprised if he joins the Clippers. They still have Smith as their sole backup quality big man (unless you count Cole aldrich, lol) and he fits the mold of their "over 30 declining all-star" bench philosophy.
Oh **** NO Main reasons Lakers were in the lottery were Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer. Lin with his overall dumb play and Boozer with his mid range bricks and no D. We already got rid of the former and I hope we don't come close to touching the latter.
Boozer was as close to being a Rocket as Chris Bosh was. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Sources say CBoozer had strong interest in signing with Houston had he gone unclaimed and cleared waivers, but Lakers made winning bid</p>— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/489888518471028736">July 17, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I will be very angry if either Jones or D-Mo are traded for Carlos Boozer. I want to see Chuck Hayes on our roster as a 14th or 15th man for defense and veteran leadership instead of him. If Boozer is willing to play on the Rockets off the bench in addition to Jones and D-Mo, it will be ok with me if Hayes refuses to sign with us.
I think it might be a bit of the other way around. We're really close to the luxury tax apron. We have 2 starting quality power forwards who will both soon be free agents. It would make some sense to trade Jones for salary relief and draft picks and then backfill the backup 4 spot with a cheap veteran. We'd take a step back talent-wise but one of Motie and Jones won't be able to maximize their value anyway. This way you bank some of that value in draft picks to use later.
And Pistons fans will tell you that the main reason they were awful the first half of last season was Josh Smith. Have a little context.
Juan it is better to retain Jones and D-Mo right now, and build up their trade value till December or February. Lawson should be able to help Jones in transition offense, and help D-Mo's post up game.
You forgot to add the unprotected first round pick we would get also. I would trade nothing we have on our roster for Boozer. Downgrade.
I see legitimate reasons for interests. Boozer isn't perfect, but he is a solid vet that has plenty of game left. I'd consider him our version of Marreese Speights.
These. Both of these. I hate Carlos Boozer. I always have and I always will. Remembering him on the Jazz when it was him, Andrei Kirilenko, Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur. God I hated that team. And here's the thing... he's not even good anymore. If we are going to target and pursue a player that I hate, please, PLEASE let him at least be good at basketball still. Getting a player that I hate that also isn't good is like a double slap in the face.
