If he never improved his shot one iota he's still better than Bev. Can't wait till Bev gets shipped. 3 years of having the worst starting PG in the league. NoMo.
Is his trash talking ad good as his dad? I am happy if he is half as good, our team have way too many good guys.
NJ didn't have the point guard skills PG2 does. nick had to play off the ball and had/has a difficult time defending as an undersized wing. this took away his only nba skills (defense / athletic advantage over pgs). GP2 has PG skills which will allow him to be matched up favorably against other PGs. he wil often have a size/athletic advantage there which he knows how to exploit on both ends of the floor. poor comparison IMO.
His game is kinda similar to a poor man's Westbrook (this is Westbrook when he came out of UCLA, not what Westbrook became). Athletic, good finisher/leaper, strong rebounder, aggressive defender.
After looking at his highlights, he might be able to take over Patrick Beverly's spot. I definitely like this pick for the Rockets.
I think he has the potential to be a smaller version of Iguodala. Bev is still the better player today though, let's not get carried away. Bev shoots 40% from 3, doesn't ever turn it over and plays average NBA defense.
How so? Both can dunk because of freaky athleticism Both quick Both known for pesky defense Both lack a consistent jump shot Both 6'3 PGs Both not very sought after....2nd round or undrafted Both selected by your Houston Rockets
Morey did get into the first round. That's when Gary should have been picked. I can't believe he didn't get drafted but it makes sense if he had a deal already in place. He's quick, has handles, very athletic, can shoot and is a LEFTY. His dad is Gary Payton. The Rockets couldn't have signed a rookie more prepared.
