For me, easily the LEAST important part of Pap's performance. His ability to shoot the 3 doesn't change after a 1/11 performance. He can shoot, and I'm sure the Rockets have made sure of that when they signed him. That he's physical and puts in the effort is more important to see. I'm hyped to think that we may be going from having zero wing defenders last year to having 2 this year.
The reason I became a contribution member so I can edit out my terriable typing grammer I'm sure dragic will soon tweet out his displeasure that others are copying his fashion sense.
Sounds like McHale will be using him in the Delfino role although as usual, he's noncommittal http://www.csnhouston.com/basketball-houston-rockets/talk/rockets-roster-should-be-set
How did you get anything related to Delfino out of that video? At the end of the article it says the Rockets hope he can get minutes behind Ariza(3) and Jones(4), but McHale doesn't say that in the video or anything else related to 3P shooting which you would think about when talking about Delfino. Article below:
Rockets small ball was one of our most effective line-ups esp when we had Delfino. Delfino could space the floor, rebound and defend relatively well as a 4. McHale said we need backup minutes at the 3 and a few minutes at the 4. Watch Pap's video highlights on youtube. He hits the 3 (except for a slump during the World Cup), goes to the rim, and is a decent defender in the Euroleagues. Still have to see if he can box out and rebound as a 4.
In the article you quoted, read the last line: "The Rockets are hoping Papanikolaou can earn some of the minutes behind both small forward Trevor Ariza and power forward Terrence Jones."
I already mentioned that in my reply to your post. It says Rockets not McHale... that's my point. You were putting words into McHale's mouth and saying he was non committal when he didn't even say it on camera.
