Yao/Tmac combo is much better than Webber/Peja combo. If Adelman can come so close with handicap superstars like that, I am sure he can do much better with Yao/Tmac.

Change is not for sake of making change. It is for sake of improving. Adelman has a better history than JVG. I dont know how anyone can go against that.

-2 Finals appearance with the Blazers.
-Lost in 6 games to Jordan led Bulls.
-Lost in game 7 to Shaq/Kobe coached by P Jackson on controversial calls. It was pretty much a given that year that whoever would win the Lakers/Kings series that year would eventually win the championship.

Injuries were a big part of Rockets season but at the same time it exposed JVG's lack of ability to adjust. He is one of the most stubborn and inflexible coaches out there. His refusal to guard the perimeter and pack in the paint cost Rockets a bunch ofgames this season.

Of course the 40 point blowout against the Mavs in game 7 last year wasnt pretty site either for a coach who is supposed to be a defensive specialist?!

It is also well known that JVG has a huge say on who the Rockets go and get. While teams in our conference are getting players like Barbosa, Diaw, Devin Harris, Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels and developing them, we are collecting and recycling old farts like (insert a whole bunch of Knicks rejects here). Yeah, JVG's dream players were Derek Anderson and Rafer Alston *shudder*. The only bright spot seems to have been Luther head.

Let's not kid ourselves. Besides Yao/Tmac, this team absolutely SUCKS DONKEY PRIVATE PARTS. And the architect of this mess has been JVG/CD's genius over the last 2 years. If anything they have shown that they are too slow to react to the change in rules and a new kind of league. We need a change of team philosophy. Of course Rocket's had a golden chance of grabbing Phil Jackson over the summer but they messed up.The second best option is to get Adelman.

Otherwise, might as well gear up for another year of JVG's ugly ball until he gets canned.

Me and a former roommate were always JVG marks. When Rudy T was sick and the Rockets were tanking games left and right we could not stop talking about how great a fit JVG would be for the team. Then they got him and he took Stevie to his first playoff appearance. All of our talks were vindicated and we felt great with the Rockets hiring of JVG. I understand that our injuries were the reason for a dismal season. But after watching the Pistons and Mavericks I realize that it is time for JVG to move on. These are two teams that have become great on both sides of the ball. The Pistons were once a defensive behemoth have now opened up the offense and the results are phenomenal. Dallas has always been great offensively(by the way I hate the Mavs), but were not the team they are now until Avery clamped down on their defense. I do believe when healthy JVG can make us a team that will make the playoffs and win us a series. But I do not know that he can win us a championship. My thought is if you can not win a championship with your scenario then you need to change something, because a championship should always be the goal. Not just a playoff appearance. I do not know that a JVG coached team can play on both sides of the ball like Detriot and Dallas is doing right now. If you can't beat the best then things need to change. I am not hating on JVG, because I believe him to be a good coach. But I believe it may be time for a change. It has been a long reluctant change in views for me, but it is time. I add that I hope I am wrong, because he's going to be here another year whether we like it or not and I am tired of losing.

Blah blah blah blah....until JVG quits or is fired or someone on this board works in the Rockets front offices, all this talk is pointless and useless

it would be nice to have another former rockets player as the head coach. that formula seemed to work.

exactly - JVG is going nowhere just yet. And when he does im guessing Adelman will be off the market.

who the frig are the Kings gonna get who can do a better job with their group? are the Maloofs gonna take in turns? Nutters!

they better have someone special up their sleeve

Yeah the Maloof decision to let him go makes no sense at all esp. considering the pool of coaching talent out there right now that's available

Last year's Yao/Tracy was NOT better than Webber/Peja before Webber hurt his knee. This year, we rarely got to see them together and when we did the Rockets fared quite well.

Those Kings team also had Vlade, Bibby, Bobby Jackson, Turkey-Glue and were much more talented than our roster of the last 2 years. Not even close. Yet Adelman couldn't get the Queens over the hump.

You also must separate JVG the GM from JVG the coach, which Les has finally done. I think we all agree that JVG the GM is terrible, but he no longer has the final decision on players. Let that go.

With a healthy team, we guarded the perimeter just fine. Remember the two wins in Phoenix last year, one of them by 20 points? With Luther, Rafer and Wesley, what do you expect, lockdown defense?

You also need to get over the Phil Jackson pipe dream. That horse is dead.

Most of those guys weren't even that good until they got to the Kings. LA had the best player in the league and probably the two best players on the court when they played. To come so close against a team like that is an accomplishment.

Tmac and Yao will waste another year before we can get something done. This city is specical, look at the football team, they are picking wrong guys to win the superball.

Is JVG defensive schemes that good or does JVG just slows the ball down like every other nba commentator or analyst says?

They will waste 3 more years and decide to do sth when TMac is over his prime and Yao is near the end of his peak.

Jvg's team can play great defense if he has the "right--JVG style" players, but his offense STINKS!!

I think that we owe JVG at least this next season to see how how our team performs. Hopefully, if JVG does a poor job and we need to get rid of him, Adelman will still be around. But come on, JVG has really only had one season w/tmac and yao. This past season shouldn't even count. I am not a JVG fan, not at all; in fact, i think that a lot of our ails are due to his coaching personality and style. But he deserves at least this next season; if we start off really poorly though, and Adelman is around then fire JVG and get Adelman. If we do not have substantial injuries next season and our team still looks similar as it is now(except for a few possible upgrades), nothing short of a deep playoff run will save JVG IMO. But give JVG this season, he deserves that.

It really is good, I just think he is too stubborn with his personnel adjustments. He will call a timeout if certain players aren't switching on picks or the rotations are too slow, but it will take him forever to realize Alston is getting killed by penetrating PG's or Bowen is ineffectively overplaying his man.

Even last year with McGrady and Yao missing so many games, the Rockets were 8th in opposing team points allowed per 100 posessions. He knows his stuff on one end of the court, atleast.

Adelman thinks he might stay in Sacramento for another year until his son finishes high school. After that, he might even be ready to leave the West Coast, where he has spent his entire career, for a new challenge.

Looks like Adelman will take off for one year, great timing for Rockets.

Why not? They were 2-2 last year, with healthy Yao and TMac, with Amare in the lineup. Yao outplayed Amare almost every single game they faced each other.

I think last night showed that the Suns are very vulnerable in the middle. If we had a healthy team and pounded the ball in to Yao, then yeah, I think we could beat them.
