To all our Rocket Friends and Morey please keep in mind the following: a) Pau Gasol is paid $19,000000 this year b) He was born in 1980 c) He is 32years of age and will be 33 next July d) He was a great player and has since given of his best to all of his Four teams (Barcelona and SPAIN), e) He is about to fall down the slippy slope to reality. f) He is the sort of player NOT needed by the Rockets, especially on a team which is being rebuilt to become a championship contender in two or three seasons. g) Gasol would be dead meat and never an asset! h) We have so many young players with great potential and they should be given a chance to develop in team chemistry towards a Championship, as we did in our first Championship run. Or to trade for another great developing young player. Y MOREY THINK CLEARLY, DO NOT WASTE OUR YOUNG TALENT ON GASOL!!!
No wonder Royce White doesn't want to go to the DLeague. Look how much they need to travel back and forth between Houston and Rio Grande Valley.
Im pretty sure he would be staying there much, much longer now. No need for him to worry about that now.
Seems like the Rockets are just using the D-League as a way to ensure the young guys do not go extended periods without PT. Let em test out the things they are working on practice. Morey knows best.
Lakers don't handle pace well. Rockets #1 in league in pace. Jones played well against Lakers in transition last game, plus has more wingspan compared to Morris as back-up 4, vs Gasol/Jamison. I think just give the Rockets someone to call on for match-up purposes.
Part of me says the rockets are really trying to justify d league affiliation. My reason are about consistent playing time. It pretty apparent that with patterson, morriss, smith, and asik that there are not consistent minutes for donuts and jones. Since that's the case and until a trade comes about, they should just keeping playing in the d-league.
You're right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Development_League#Player_allocations That being said, I don't mind them getting sent down for a few games at a time, especially when Jones and Motie have shown that they are better than their D-League competition. Hopefully by the end of the season they'll have cracked the rotation and we won't need to send them down. This is just to keep them fresh.
