It could be that the Vipers don't play again until Friday of this week. This gives the Rockets some added depth for the rest of the week while guys heal. Machado and D-Mo probably go back down later in the week. http://www.nba.com/dleague/riograndevalley/schedule/
Pretty surprising since just 48 hours Morey hinted that Machado would be in the D-League for some time. That pretty much told us that until Douglas is traded, or Lin/Douglas go down with an injury he's there. -My guess is that the Vipers dont play another game until Friday in Tulsa, so there is a few days for them to get a good practice in today, and travel with the team tomorrow. Then they can take a hop over to Tulsa from OKC on Wednesday after the game with the Thunder. Good chance for Machado and D-Mo to be with the coaches & the team for a few days Im guessing.
We have been seeing some Lin and Douglas combo lineups. Possibly machado back up pg and move TD to SG? When delfino comes back then just bench Douglas. I'm not a TD hater but we already know his cieling. Lets see what SM can do.
Inactive vs. Active List Rules Posted Jul 29 2009 10:46AM Print RSS Feeds E-News Sign Up Understanding how rosters are set under the new CBA Under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, each team is required to carry 12 players on its active list and at least one player on its inactive list. Teams may have a maximum of three players on its inactive list, which includes any players sent to the NBA Development League. In the past, a team maintained a 12-player roster, with additional players being put on the injured list, which forced the player to sit a minimum of five games before again being eligible to play. Now, the active and inactive list can be set on a game-by-game basis, one hour before tip-off, with no length of stay required for either list. If, for example, a star player is injured and forced to sit out one or two games, the coach can now place him on the inactive list and "activate" another player, giving the team a full 12 players available to play. In previous seasons, that player would have had to stay on the injured list five games, so instead the team would frequently just sit the player and make do with the other 11 available players. http://www.nba.com/news/inactive_rules.html
No way OKC trades Harden before the end of the year. Why would they break up their big three? And even if they did, for some crazy reason, they would never trade Harden to Houston for a bunch of has-beens and questionable mid-lottery draft picks. OKC re-signs Harden to the max and amnesties Perkins, then Harden leads OKC back to the finals. Book it.
The Rockets have a stretch of back to back off days. It looks like its just a move for practice purposes
Not sure why anyone on here thinks that this is going to happen. Not until February at least unless a rogue trade comes early or Lin/Douglas get injured. Look, I like Machado as a raw PROSPECT, but if you have been following the game of basketball for longer than an hour, you will be able to see that he has some serious developing he needs to do to be an NBA PG. Again... I like the kid, but its Scott Freakin Machado who went undrafted for some very good reasons. Its not like we are holding back Anthony Davis or anything. He's a very unpolished rookie PG. Enough said. Throwing a behind the back pass, and running an NBA team are completely different elements of the game. -This isn't really even a shiny new toy you haven't played with yet. This is a good find from a garage sale. Still a good find worth polishing up, but far from a shiny new toy. The Rockets have 3 years with Scott if they choose to keep him. If he's as good as some on here think he could be, it will come out in time. If he was the next CP3 or Jason Kidd, he would have already been on the court with another team that drafted him in the lottery.
Just watched assistant coach Kelvin's Sampson's post practice interview and he basically answered our thoughts on why the team recalled D-Mo and Machado from the D-League. http://www.nba.com/rockets/video/kelvin-sampson-11262012 At 2:30 - "We only had 9 guys at practice so we couldn't go 5 on 5 yesterday or today.."
it's only a matter of time for scott--he already has nba passing ability-his defense and outside shooting need time--dont give up on him-in two years he will be a valuable player -somewhere-hope it's in houston
I never expected Scott Machado to stay in the valley for too long... He is the best pure POINT GUARD on the roster and plus he can score (in my opinion)... And when I say pure point guard I mean he can play in any offense and an offense doesn't have to be catered for him to succeed... Not only do I think the Rockets want to see what they have in this kid but this could also be a ploy to light a fire under Lin and Douglas...
Machado is not very good. He is a poor shooter... he is a terrible defender ... he does not control the pace of the game... he is a poor scorer as well....
But he thew a couple behind the back passes in Summer League so I think he should be starting ahead of Lin.
doesnt mean anything. THey probably wont even be active. THis isn't baseball or Hockey when you call up a guy because you know they'll probably play.
