that 4th year is gonna be great, just sal dump him if he's become a shell of himself by then.

Tilman is not Les who was unwilling to tank. If we can't get it done in 4 years, we should start rebuilding and we'll be in the perfect situation to start doing that.

    Simple math:

Without Paul- Harden lost out on two MVP's
    With Paul- Harden MVP

    It was obvious :)

He needs to be able to stay healthy in the postseason these next few years to justify this

44m's at 36/37 years old is absolutely insane to think about

I'm worried about his contract. This guy hasn't stayed healthy in a long time.

The smartest thing would be 2 yrs and 1 yr team option but CP3 wasn't going to say yes.

He could earn 50 mill a year and it would still be smarter.

I can live with that, worst case scenario, we suck a couple of years (relatively speaking) because of injuries.

If Houston struggles in the upcoming season, Chris will retain trade value as long as he remains fit. I would hate to see that happen.

Those traits are not enough to justify a $40m+ per year contract. With that salary, you need to be bringing in championships.

Miami, Spurs, and GSW have all built championship teams by having their star players leave money on the table to help build out the squad and not by overpaying a 33yr old injury prone PG.

Harden is 28yrs, and should be playing with 2 or more stars to help him win multiple rings. That CP3 contract will make it hard to add the needed help.

As for running the team back, the way the summer is shaping up, it is more likely we get swept by GSW next year than us winning.

I have some mixed feelings about this. But I guess Morey didn't have much of a choice.

Not after we stretch him at age 36 or so.

40 million a year for an aging player with a laundry list of injuries is reaching big time. I want to keep CP3 too but dang not at 40 per year.

Still ranked top 5 pg, and everyone of them have 200 mil contracts, and CP3 became the first player in NBA history to tally 28 points, eight assists and seven steals in a single game. Still has the power, probably worth 32 mil but the rockets overpaid again.

Paul proves himself to be a difference maker against gsw, so he was getting whatever he wanted despite his inability to stay healthy. It's a risk a franchise has to take when there are no other options, theres no point debating it.

Durant messed up the league by joining a team with back to back titles.

No brainer. Only tough pill to swallow is the final year, but by then if the team isn't contending you can trade him as an expiring or worse case stretch him. Confident that HOF point guards can hold up until 36.

No doubt but his health and now age will not allow him to play a full season nor play the entire playoffs.
