he earned 160 million dollars playing not even a full season last year and being hurt on a non contact injury LOL. gtfo Only person whos earned their contract is harden
Yikes, tonight was BAD. Year ONE of a 4 year maximum contract and CP3 can't play back-to-backs? You have to give him the max if that was the only way he'd stay, but wow what happened tonight did not look good at all. Big egg in the face on the coaching staff for resting him for no real reason. Literally cost the team what was supposed to be an easy W.
Wait are you a new rockets fan? Winning never comes easy for us. Theres always a trap game whenever we are playing lesser teams.
Best regular season in Rockets history and one game away from beating the GOAT team. Nah you get out. Whadya know another dude who usually never posts here when we win, that figures. You new dudes can go home for real.
still worth every penny...simply knowing chris paul is a rocket is worth 160 million....this is how much i love and appreciate this player
We should appreciate Chris Paul even considered us, it would be easy for him to stay in LA and wait for LeBron
It's more about the years than the money actually. 2 years plus option would be good. We can't be choosers so it will stay a bittersweet decision. Try to stay flexible from this onward. He'll be like an assistant coach at the end anyway.
He just needs to play faster is all. He is the kind of guy who will stay in shape and work hard to keep his skills sharp. But as his explosiveness disappears, he has to learn to keep the pace higher and pound the ball less.
Had a feeling this would come back to bite us. Yeah, he's a great player.... but he's never been the fittest of players.
Don't underestimate the magnitude of the PR nightmare that would have been had we decided to get into a low-balling contest with CP3 after last season. CP3 holds sway in the league, not Lebron-level, but there's a reason why he is the president of the Players' Union. Sure, $140 million is WAYYYY too much for CP3 at this juncture of his career, compounded by the fact that it handicapped us from retaining our team, but how would future free agents feel about coming to Houston had we gotten into a low-balling contest with CP3 after he poured out his heart and soul for our team last year? We can haggle with an up and comer like Clint, but not a "made man" like CP3. All NBA players say that "they understand the NBA is a business and that they try not to take it personally when their team trades them or doesn't offer the contract they believe they deserve" but at the end of the day, they are human. Just like us. We DO take things personally. Especially if your ego and pride are at the levels of these superstar professional athletes who hold tremendous sway over social platforms. Yes, I HATE HATE HATE that this contract has put us where we are today as a team. As a fan, I can't stand that we were the best team in the league last year and a CP3 injury away from a chip, but it is what it is. We may have sealed our own fate by closing our championship window but future marquee free agents know that we are loyal to our superstars. I'm sure Boston will face second and third order effects in the near future when trying to retain their players or sign new ones after what they did to IT.
I'm starting to believe this contract was poorly constructed. Why not give him a guaranteed contract this season with an opt-out for the next? What, Morey couldn't convince CP? Maybe CP had one foot out the door or something. It's almost unbelievable.
Rockets would have been better off letting Chris Paul walk. That money could have been better spent on more depth and youth. The reality is that no other team was going to offer him the max for an injury prone player who is clearly in decline. Morey way overpaid.
Are you serious? Let him walk after 1 year? This is almost as equivalent to the Herschel Walker trade (5 first round picks) except we would have had CP3 for only 1 season cut short due to injury instead of 2.5 full years. The Rockets were doomed the day we traded CP3 to the Clippers.
My little way of dealing with the contract is to imagine that smile right after the steal from Jerebko’s layup. We’re not built to beat the league, just the Warriors.
