Call it preseason but playing well in preseason is still something. You could be like the Timberwolves. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....ed-basically-calls-timberwolves-lollygaggers/ “They’ve got to figure out what they want to do as a team,” Adelman said. “I just told them, ‘What kind of season do you want?’ That’s really up to us to make what we want. They’ve got to figure out what they want to do as a team…. “I don’t understand,” he said. “Like I told them afterward, we’ve played two games here at home and we’re acting like we’re just going through the motions. We aren’t the San Antonio Spurs and we aren’t Miami. We act like we have plenty of time.” Which leads me to wonder - our guys play hard game in and game out - it never seem like there was a lack of effort on the court due to the fact that it was a preseason game. I frankly thought I was watching a regular season scrimmage when watching these games (for the times the starters are playing anyways). As we can see with the Wolves, not always the case. #winningculture
I just broke down the game efficiency (raw efficiency, not PER) numbers through the first three games of the preseason. I've always liked the "game efficiency" method a bit more than the "game score" method. Here's what we get for the point guard position. "EPM" refers to efficiency units per minute. The higher the number the better. "TEFF" refers to total efficiency units for the player through the first three games. The higher the number the better. JL --- 77 minutes --- TEFF = 55 --- EPM = 0.714 PB --- 69 minutes --- TEFF = 48 --- EPM = 0.696 Based on this evaluation, Lin has better ever so slightly better/more efficient than Beverley in the first three preseason games. It should also be pointed out that two of Lin's games game as a starter presumably primarily facing other starters, while two of Beverley's games came as a backup presumably primarily facing other backups.
Looks to be right. They wanna get Dwight touches in the post to work him into the offense. With better spacing/not having to mash with Hibbert every night he should be alot more effective.
I should have mentioned the basic "Game Efficiency" formula used above, for those not familiar with it. Game (Raw) Efficiency = PTS + REB + AST + ST + BLK - Missed FGA - Missed FTA - TO
How did Lin "seriously outplay" Beverley? According to the stats that CH provided, Bev is averaging 7.2 assists, 4.1 stls with a TS% of 83.1% through these three games. I'm not trying to take away from how great Lin is playing, but to say that one seriously outplayed the other is inaccurate. As McHale has said repeated, both are doing great, and that's exactly what our team needs from them.
I predicted 27 points for Harden, so its a good chance that prediction will come true. This team is very deep. 55 wins here we come.
He is playing with the starters while Dmo is coming off the bench. But true, they are giving Jones the opportunity to be our starting PF.
Imagine if these preseason stats remained the same.....up towards our 16th playoff game win. MMMHMMM Holy cow, Championship anyone????!?!!?!?!
I wouldn't be surprised if it's because every single one of the roster has something to prove, either for a roster spot, media backlash, or personal goals. Also wouldn't be surprised if Beverley's leading by example because he ALWAYS plays hard and everyone else becomes motivated just to keep up.
It's always been a personal preference because I never knew or understood the weighting system John Hollinger (creator of Game Score) used for the Game Score formula. NBA Efficiency, which is the stat I was talking about, is apparently very similar to Game Score: http://wagesofwins.com/2009/07/28/the-underrated-in-2008-09/ The NBA tracks NBA Efficiency daily, as it apparently does with Game Score: http://www.nba.us/statistics/efficiency.html
Casspi 20/26FG this year so far, all 6 missed shot are 3pt attempts Ok, I won't cut him after this. My bad. I thought he's garbage after watching him last 3 seasons.
Man with Parsons, Lin, Casspi, Harden, and Garcia is there really anyone in the league who will be able to keep up with us shooting wise? I feel like we're gonna light it up from the outside even more than last year. Lin's shot clearly looks much better.
Had to do this. Don't know what it yields. Last year on top, this year on bottom.
