idk, whether DM regretted or not he had not made a quick move to grab away Christian Wood. We fans bumped that 'buyout' for pages proposing sign the wood, if DM didn't notice Christian Wood's potential, i gotta say DM is not a good GM in terms of young players development, at least he should double check his players evaluation models (there are flaws).

At least give Morey credit for actually finding and signing these players when no one else would.

I have struggled with losing these players but have come to realize that Rockets do not have the minutes to develop all their young undrafted players because they are in win now mode, so vets are more reliable production wise.

Tanking teams have more time to groom and develop draft and undrafted players.

Morey has never had this luxury.

    Mario Elie
    Carl Herrera
    Matt Bullard
    Moochie Norris
    Von Wafer
    Rafer Alston
    Pat Beverley

man...i mean during DM's tenure, those potential young (age 22-26) he signed also successfully kept in our roster:
    star players:
    The Beard
    CC
    other role players:
    Pat Beverley
    Rafer Alston
Ben McLemore (successful or not, tbc)

you can't name those good players he missed, gave up, failed to sign, or 'give-up n bring back'
    Harrell
    RoCo
    Whiteside
    Morris
    Gay
    Carroll
    Moore
    etc.

I give Morey credit for identifying and signing these young players.

Again, no time to develop all due to mandate to compete for ring every season.

I would have loved to keep and develop all our former signings/trades but winning was priority.

that's ok. all in all, Ws n a ring or two are the cure for everything.
my only point is, there are many championship teams in history proved that on one hand freshman(rondo, rob horry, roco kinda players) could be indispensable pieces of an organization on its way of winning a trophy, and those freshman can also be used as rebuilding pieces or trade bait on the other hand, i.e. you can't put all your eggs in one basket.
    DM could do better.

    I could not agree more.

My posting history backs this up, never wanted to let go of RoCo and wanted to retain Batum, Harrell, Whiteside, Livingston, Wood, Adel, Spalding, etc.
