Let's get a real assessment of where the Rox could go for help. For instance Glen Davis and David Lee are not centers. So: 1 trade (In no particular order) Chandler Curry Miller Camby Kaman Ilgauskas Koufos ? Who am I missing. 2 free agent Magloire Mohammed Pachulia Varejao Anderson Petro Oberto Wallace Nesterovich Mihm Blount Thomas Elson Foyle Ratliff Swift Booth Voskuhl O'Bryant What do you think?
I think Wilcox would be a great pick up if they can get him on the cheap. Reports are that Portland will sign him. I don't know why because they have enough big men on their team.
2 priorities that come before signing a center: 1. not sacrificing next summer's cap space (chandler, curry, kaman) 2. making sure young players have lots of playing time to develop. old centers will only help us win a few extra games and still not make the playoffs. IOW they're pointless. (miller, Z, magliore, mohammed, andersen, oberto, wallace, nesterovic, mihm, blount, thomas, elson, foye, ratliff, booth, voskul) the only players remaining are: koufos, pachulia, varejao, petro, swift, obyant. most of them are already being discussed here ---> Young Players Who Might Sign For The Minimum
Center list is sad...........Houston has been lucky to have some of the good to greatest Centers to play the league. To be reduced looking @ scrubs/cheapest (sorry no pun intended to some who may be okay) makes me a Sad Panda
I didnt see Matt Haryasz on the list. My solution: Get Troy Murphy, and before you say it....look up the stats.
you shouldn't include those centers who ask 2 mil or more than 2 mil per year. you also shouldn't include those who ask a contract more than one year coz the signing should not have impact on what will happen in the summer of 2010.
Can you say " Scrubs" ..... I know Kaman gets hurt but he can score and he is just a one year rental at best ........
My wish list (in loose order): Tyrus Thomas Andris Biedrins Marcus Camby Tyson Chandler Brad Miller Zaza Pachulia I don't see us getting any of these names, so I'll take just about any center at this point.
How can Chris Kaman be a "one year rental" when he's already set to make $11.3M in 2010-11 and another $12.2M in 2011-12?
Here is a little stat line on Troy Murphy. Dude is 6'11 245 lbs. He played in 73 games last year. He was 2nd in the NBA in rebounding last year (11.8 reb/per game) behind Dwight Howard. He was 4th in NBA in double doubles last year (49), tied with Tim Duncan. He was +22.15 in efficency. He shot .475 from the field, and .450 from the 3pt.
Is he a free agent? Because with the rumors surrounding the Pacers' organization's recent player acquisitions getting him out there might be impossible.
Are there any recent Morey sightings? Anyone know which city he's in? Last I heard, he was in Vegas--which worries me a little.
