I was a little hard to find so I'll just post the comment here...

    Toby,

For a good example in the NBA, you'd have to go back to Rudy's Rockets, who won back-to-back titles with a gang that was unquestionably greater than the sum of its parts. While they had the requisite superstar in Hakeem Olajuwon, it was the ability of assorted Chucky Browns and Pete Chilcutts to meld seamlessly into the whole that put them over the top. If there's any team capable of pulling off that kind of feat this year, I'd have to go with Sacramento, who came within a whisker two years ago. The Kings have a good thing going in their clubhouse, and if they can get through a postseason healthy there's enough talent to beat anybody. [\I]

I really think this is a bad comparison. The Rockets were loaded with average players the Hakeem made good players because of the attention he got. The Kings are loaded with very good players but without that one player that can carry them to the championship. Chris Webber is not close to Hakeem, Duncan, or Shaq's level.

Whatever. THose Rockets teams kicked ass. They only "overacheieved" because of lack of media attention. Anyone who watched for a while knew they ruled. Look at all the starters, what a team!
