If Pierce leaves Brooklyn though - The Clippers lost Willie Green so they had a opening at the SG spot - coming back home for Pierce and being able to play for Doc Rivers again would be way too enticing. The question is Pierce was a guy who looked like he was going to play his entire career with boston - does he want to be one of those guys who keeps bouncing around at the end of their career? The Clippers would be able to offer the most outside of the contract perspective - coming home, former coach, upper echelon NBA team and a role for him on that team. If he is willing to take a massive pay cut (not sure what the clippers can offer him if its just the vet mine or the lower level exception etc) - other teams may be able to offer pierce more money not sure whats more important to him at this stage of his career
Not sure that I agree. It depends on how many rotation guys are going out and coming in as a part of these deals and I don't think we can say conclusively how things will take shape at this point. Also, remember that the Rockets can also have the Bi-Annual Exception (starting at up to $2.1M, for up to 2 years) with which to chase a lower-level free agent that they would have otherwise chased with a portion of the MLE. So they likely isn't sacrificing that much extra depth by using the entire MLE on one guy, assuming that one guy is one that they really value.
I like Paul Peirce. What was his relationship with Rondo like? If we end this FreeAgency with Peirce, Rondo and Melo I think we the best team in the league - at least top 3 [depending on coaching] Rocket River

If we get Melo, we switch from building mode to win now mode. Vets like Paul Pierce make sense in win now mode.

JJ Redick would probably be of equal value. When he`s hitting those perimeter shots, they are awfully tough to defend.
he'll be a clipper. i think we all saw this happening as soon as he was traded to the nets instead of the clippers. he's from LA and he loves doc. done deal one way or another. rockets shouldn't waste time on him. i think if lebron or melo don't pan out, try to trade for love or rondo. if that doen't happen i'd still move lin for cap space, but would use the $16M from him and asik to bring in 3 MLE type guys to build a bench. choose 1 big, 1 wing, and 1 pg and split the cap among them: hill, frye, deng, chalmers, ariza, mcbob, nelson, hawes, sefalosha, sessions, marv.williams, mo.williams, pj tucker, kaman. 3 of those plus donuts and daniels and that's our bench. way better than last year.

If LeBron isn't coming, this is by far our best option IMO. Remember, Harden has completely disappeared in two playoff series. Pierce is insurance and if you didn't notice, still put up good numbers for a man of his age. If we get him down to 20-25, it's a perfect fit. And Chris F'in Bosh is 30. If he wants the max, I'd rather play with Terrence
Garnett also wants to make another run, but he's stuck in Brooklyn. Brooklyn badly needs a PG with DWill coming off surgeries to both ankles. I think a Lin for Garnett trade works. Yes I know Garnett is over 40, but if it can land us Pierce for cheaper, why not? If another trade doesn't come up for Lin, this sounds a viable option to me. Let's face it, he's been a disappointment. I'd rather have AB0 playing backup point when it really matters most
