I wouldn't look at his career numbers. It took him a while to get adjusted to the NBA game. That is common knowledge. Last year he was recovering from his freak injury in 2009, while playing through the season. He still managed 13ppg 11rpg and 2.6 bpg. However, the year before that he averaged close to 18 ppg 11 rpg and close to 3 bpg on .629 from the field. Those are incredible numbers.

He isn't "injury prone" rather, hes suffered some freak accidents. Much like Kevin Martin was "injury prone" previous to his stint with the Rockets.

And please don't include Brook Lopez in the conversation with Bogut. The two don't come close to comparison.....

I don't think it means a better player, just a better overall deal... such as Kevin Martin, Chase, + filler for Pekovic, Beasley, plus filler

For those trying to rank Centers, you are missing the glaring fact that the Rockets are a top ten offensive team, despite an aging Scola and a slumping Martin. The Rockets primary weakness is a defensive big. And no Dalembert is not that.

Andrew Bogut is a rare talent in the NBA. He is a difference maker defensively, unlike all those others listed in the so called rankings. He is easily the second best defensive center in the NBA. He is the ideal guy you want alongside a guy like Scola, or heck even Montejounas.

He is only 27 years old and doesn't very much mileage. He has missed games, but we aren't talking about microfracture, we are talking about freak injuries like Martin had, who BTW has been healthy here.

This is a no brainer yes for Houston.

Pau brings the numbers at the 5 but he can't back down big Centers.

Any big man, please. The rockets aren't the rockets without a legit big man.

He can shoot over all of them and you can count on one hand the number of men in the league that meet the qualification of big Centers.

Dalembert + Lee + a draft pick (mind you, its not the Knicks pick) is not stupid. Thats a damn good deal. Obviously they are still in play for Gasol with only giving away these two players. The Bogut move has another deal like the Gasol deal in mind as well I guarantee you that much.

Why because Bogut can't score close to 40 points? ... ok given that was on a bad team. Milwaukee aint no good team either.
Brook Lopez is an up and coming Top Center if you want it or not.
I did not say Bogut was not a good fit on this team. But he is not better than the male and female Gasol, and arguably Jefferson and Cousins.

Or how about both this deal and a Scola/Lowry deal for Gasol?

    Dragic / Llull
    Martin / Budinger
    Parsons /Morris
    Gasol / Patterson
    Bogut /Hill

I think you are fighting for home court in the playoffs next year with that lineup. Bogut/Gasol is an impressive front court.

Right. He can make a shot blocking big like Dalembert irrelevant by bringing him away from the basket on offense, and defending him well enough on defense to get the job done. Gasol is a matchup nightmare for other teams as a center. He might not be a classic shot blocking big, but he gets the job done, and is the most skilled big man in the game on offense. Yeah.... He OK.

Not better but Bargnani was rumored to be on the trade block early in the season.
