Cuban is out of his mind. It's pretty simple...

There is no way you can force players to stay on a team with true "free agency". They should have gotten the franchise tag implemented if they wanted to give small market teams a better shot at keeping players long term.

Either way you look at it, New Orleans will lose Paul in this system. It's just a matter of whether they get anything in return for him.

Cuban is a hypocritical dick. I always thought so, even as fans raved that he was the "perfect" owner.

If he was the one getting Paul, he would be stirring up a crapstorm.

    Blakely is already signed.

However, if we give up Lee and Martin in this deal, we really need a starting SG. CBud is a JAP, just another player, decent offensively, not so decent defensively. TWill is a headcase, great potential but hasn't proven a durn thing on the floor while proving he's a space cadet off the floor.

Wow this trade keeps getting worse for us...this is more than what we had to give up for T-Mac, who at the time was a SUPERSTAR that was actually YOUNG to boot. We are trading for a 2nd tier star on the wrong side of 30 and trying to somehow make him into a franchise player...ridiculous.

Dan Gilbert, king assclown of the universe (he made his fortune originating subprime loans btw) seems to be lodging his primary objection in that the Lakers arent' giving up enough - so why is the solution to bleed the rockets? Makes no sense.

I wouldn't hate giving up Lee instead of Martin so long as we still cleared the cap space to make another big move either now or next summer. But it definitely seems like the first deal was better from a cap perspective since we can just amnesty thabeet anyway, and the salaries of Lee/Budinger don't equal Martin's by far.

Is there any new development that makes the Rockets give up more? Because I can't see them keep piling on players. After all, Stern and the owners are pissed more for the salary than anything else.

From a salary standpoint, Lee, TWill, Flynn, and Hill will exceed KMart's salary. So if the Rockets are still in the Nene sweepstakes, that would make the salary work by pulling out Martin.

If this trade is being worked then we might have to give K-mart, Luis Scola and Goran Dragicfor Pau Gasol. i mean we are potentially giving away 50 ppg to a old man that may average like 16 ppg. whats wrong with you Morey! I wouldve like this trade more if we also got Lamar Odom

Just saw this on ESPN. Don't know if it has already been posted here.
    LarryCoon Larry Coon
"Per @KBergCBS: Framework of revamped CP3 trade has been reached, pending approval of the commish. Good luck with that last part."

Haven't seen any word on the "revamped" structure. I feel optimistic it will work out better for Rockets. Not based on anything other than it can't be worse than the last trade.

I agree, a talented yet SOFT big man on the wrong side of 30. I wouldn't do it.

    OP,

    can you update the title?

    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...ris-paul-los-angeles-lakers-trade-resubmitted

The New Orleans Hornets' three-team trade with the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets that would land Chris Paul in L.A. has been resubmitted to the league office for approval, according to sources close to the talks.

The Rockets' part of the trade is exactly the same, with Houston sending Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and a 2012 first-round draft pick to New Orleans, while receiving Pau Gasol from the Lakers.

The rest of the specific changes to the original trade scenario were not immediately available, but sources told ESPN.com that a reconfigured trade has been presented by the league-owned Hornets to NBA commissioner David Stern in hopes that he'll approve this construction after vetoing Thursday's trade in principle.

If you read the letter he send he was more upset about the fact that the Lakers would save money and therefore pay less luxury tax. That and not adding draft picks.
