Reading about where his teams finished defensively and considering the personnel they had on those teams, I'm happy with this hire. I think most of what Bzdelik did here will not go to waste and we will have some fresher ideas whose mind hasn't been shrunk by thinking Warriors-only. Still need 1 or 2 more good people on the bench, but I can't complain about this. If MDA's own situation is secure, I see Turner as a valuable resource. If they don't secure MDA, he will just be more territorial than usual and the organization are a bunch of idiots if they think that would work.
When I went on nba stats database the kings defense rating was similar to rockets last year. But I’m seeing tweets by guys saying elston made the defense 6,5, and 4
Houston Rockets’ defensive efficiency (number of points allowed per 100 possessions) during Turner’s tenure: 2007-08: 86.5 (2nd) 2008-09: 101.4 (4th) 2009-10: 105.5 (17th) 2010-11: 106.2 (18th) Although there was a drop-off toward the end of his tenure, the potential exists for a huge jolt in production, especially with a fresh face coaching the defense. The Houston Rockets were in the middle of the pack in terms of defensive efficiency last season being ranked 16th and allowing 107.9 points per 100. https://houseofhouston.com/2019/06/...-elston-turner-will-help-turn-around-defense/
Whatever about Elston Turner.... the Rockets really to be aggressive and name Darren Erman as their associate head coach.
Turner might be better at Xs and Os then dumbtoni he was the apprentice of one of the best. Happy to see this I'm tired of isos
