If they used cap space for Melo they wouldn't be able to sign McRoberts for the MLE. The fact that they are saying MLE gives reason to believe they expect to be above the cap.
Couldn't it just be that they are just trying to keep all options open? I mean, why tap into cap space when they would need every last penny to upgrade that team? In other words, I doubt Josh McRoberts is the piece they all agree on is what is going to "put them over the top" in regards to competing with the WC.
Dont get me wrong... I am sure he's great but I am not sure that will have LeBron speed dialing Pat Riley to sign his new contract with the Heat ASAP...

Shoot sounds like a good thing to me. Screw all these prima donnas. Let's go after Deng and Millsap and another wailing second tier guy and resign Parsons. Go for solid depth instead of depending on 3 guys so much. We already have two players that are the best at their positions. That's enough!
Sorry I like Bosh too, but he is not the difference between first round exit and contending for a title. Who would even handle the ball when bev/harden get rest? You got no bench....no real backup for any of the position except PF if TJOnes stays.

As many have pointed out, McRoberts signing doesn't mean Bosh WILL return. looks like we're going to plannedmauryhood to get the plan D pill. Sign and trade for love, get ir done.
No cap space = Lebron, Bosh, Wade, MLE Cap space = Lebron, Melo(maybe), Wade, Room Exception They can still sign McRoberts with their cap space if things go the other way , but it might necessitate bigger paycuts. Lebron(max), McRoberts, Wade($13m), Cole, Shabazz and cap holds leaves only around $18 million for Carmelo. Then they'll have to waste their Room Exception on Haslem.
I don't think they can but I'd have to go through it. I think to sign and trade for Carmelo they'd have to renounce Bosh which would give them cap room and remove the MLE.
