Rockets have made a trade, pending league approval (UPDATE: Padgett for Tsakalidis)

This trade isn't that bad. Finally we have a backup for Dikembe at center while Yao is out. Maybe the rockets will trade Jake before the trade deadline. I mean who has ever heard of Jamal Sampson until the rockets were interested in getting him. I wish we got atkins instead or maybe there is more to the trade.

 

I'm disappointed we didn't get more for the trade exception. This is a little better than nothing. Padgett had no place on our team and maybe this guy can spell Deke for a few minutes until Yao gets back.

The value of the TE decreased as it got closer to expiring and CD decided to cash in for a few pennies at the last minute.

 

Wasn't Tsakalidis a decent player for Memphis last year. This could help us out at the PF position.

At least they traded Padgett and not someone who gets regular playing time.

I don't see this trade hurting us.

Maybe this is management telling Span and Gundy that Spanoulis is staying, help to ease his pain for the moment by bringin in a Greek player.

I agree. The fact that they didn't waive Sura but instead made Memphis take Padgett means they will be looking to deal Sura's contract prior to the trade deadline. Probably for a point guard?

And Padgett was redundant, Novak needs to develop anyway and have his spot, plus Novak is a better shooter anyways, and Jake played pretty well at the end of last year in Memphis, he really has more value than Padgett does truth be told.

The team now just needs Spanoulis and JVG to mend ways or Sura to come back miraculously and all is well for a title run.

 

Well, there is a chance that the Rockets made it out w/ another TE (not as big). The Chron article says that we exchanged TE's as well.

Another poster pointed out, the deal could have been 4.2 TE for Jake and then Memphis' TE for Padgett. Although the new TE (if any) would be small, it wouldn't expire for another year IIRC.

Something for nothing, I'm okay w/ that.
